So I’m a junior and I’m in the second semester of this year and I was wondering. When do I apply for colleges? What’s a priority deadline? Will my chances of getting accepted increase if I apply earlier? Do all Cal states have the same priority deadlines? Do I apply junior year (if I’ve done all the prerequisites like the ACT)? Senior year? But when, like what month? I want to have a higher chance of getting accepted so but I don’t know which application date is the one to apply to considering my goals. Also what’s a list of the prerequisites of applying to college? Like I know I have to take the ACT but what else?
The Cal state application opens October 1, 2019 for Fall 2020 so you would apply Fall Senior year. The deadline to apply is November 30, 2019 but you want to submit your application a few weeks before the deadline. Submitting the Cal State application early does not increase your chances but do not wait until the last minute. No essays involved so a pretty easy application to fill out.
Here is a link for the CSU requirements/checklist: https://www2.calstate.edu/apply/freshman/Documents/application-checklist-freshman.pdf
Other schools will have different deadlines for submitting your application so it really depends upon where you plan to apply.
Thank you. I have more questions. So I looked into the link you sent me and it said I needed to recommendations and my parents employment background. I know what employment background are but I’m confused on what it means by recommendations. Like from my teachers to me where they say nice things about me? I think I was just confused as to why both those things were listed on the same check off part and I am just wondering.
You need recommendations and parents employment information if you plan to apply for EOP. Most applicants do not apply for EOP.

Some private schools and UC Berkeley will ask for letters of recommendations from your Counselor and Teachers. These are not required for the Cal States.
As a Junior, I would expect that you will meet with your Guidance Counselor soon. You should ask your counselor about EOP and if you qualify along with a recommendation letter if needed.
