sorry if there is already a thread on this. When is the best time to look for summer jobs?

Around or before spring break usually works, but it really depends on the job.
Do you already have a job from last summer you want to return to?
Are you wanting an internship? Do you want to flip burgers, lifeguard, work on campus, be a server...?

I want to stay far far away from foodservice (worked there last year, don't want to return). Ideally I'd like a clerical job or work at the local bookstore starting in May...

If you plan on working only for the summer, you can sign up for a temp agency. Depending on your interests, the agency will place you in a job or a series of jobs during the summer while your off from class. Jobs range from office work to light industrial (factory) work.

Like apumic said, it really depends on the kind that you want. My school's already holding summer job/internship fairs, which I assume are for the best kind - high pay, prestigious, jobs that don't involve taking out the trash and flipping burgers

Temp agencies are good. Last summer I got a data entry placement for 2 months through a temp agency. It was the best job ever!
