I need a summer job badly. However, I don't know where to start looking for one. I tried looking in the newspaper, but most of the jobs there are not suitable for teenagers. Where should I look, or what should I do to get a decent summer job quickly?

Look around.

Go to stores and ask for applications. If you dont see any teenagers working there then maybe they dont, but otherwise you are going to have to apply like crazy (its late)

yeah, it's kinda late now. Best thing you can do is put in a bunch of applications and wait.

"yeah, it's kinda late now."

So, when's the best time to start looking for a summer job?

For a retail-type job, probably in April/early May. For an internship, probably in February at the latest.

Before summer. All high schoolers and college students are out looking for jobs and there just isn't enough for them all, that's why you have to start looking early.

which is why it is going to suck next year because I dont get done with school until around the second week of june so all the other college students have been out for a while and have jobs and the highschool students are getting out (and probobly already got jobs as well).

Maybe I can get a job over the phone.

Wait wait wait....it may not be too late for a retail job. If you have retail epxerience and can tell them you'll work there through college, you'll have a shot. I work at a Shop 'n Save grocery store and I just applied to be a checker at a Dierbergs grocery store...they're interested and I have an interview on Mon.
