Should I be looking for an on-campus job even now in summer, or are campus positions generally filled in August/September?

You might not see very many postings over the summer, but it doesn’t hurt to start looking. Most students find jobs during orientation.

There is a great job listing board here

I looked for some over the summer and emailed places I might be interested in, then had an interview the first day I was on campus… it ended up working really great and I held the job all year.

I didn’t look for a job until I got on campus, and I didn’t have any trouble. The libraries are probably good to start looking, but do it early, b/c those jobs fill up. They only hire work-study, so as long as you have work-study, you’re fine. (Or if you are tradition, I think)

are there usually any jobs in computers/IT available for students?

are there jobs available for students who don’t have work study? somehow we didn’t get financial aid but I still wanna help out my parents, but i have no required work study.

There are a lot of job postings that don’t require or supposedly don’t prefer work-study candidates. I know a lot of people who didn’t get financial aid who have on-campus jobs, so I think you’re probably going to be fine.

There are jobs in IT/computing for students. A couple of my friends work in CIT and help take care of students’ and faculty’s computer issues. On occasion I have seen postings by various departments for web developers and programmers, as well.
