When to send SAT scores & how many recipients?

I am Class of 2014. I just sent mine because I think I'm good with my scores, maybe I'll take another in the fall, but just wondering about what other people do.

I ended up asking my parents to pay the $11 fee for several schools where I'm not even sure I'll apply, just because I figured, why not just get it done now. However I am curious, does everyone else leave it all to the fall? Do you ever report scores to schools you might not even apply to in the end?

Or, if you're done and in college, did you ever do this? (Report scores to a school where you never submitted an application)

Thanks again just wondering. Sorry, needing a break from a final paper due tomorrow. Going back to the paper now.

My kids sent them free to schools they were interested in, but on their top choices. Once they were sure where they wanted to apply, the paid to send them to the remainder. My DD sent them free to a couple schools she ended up not applying to . . . we were fine with it.

Best of luck!

You pay for the score report only to the schools you are going to apply. You don’t need to the send the score until you have your application ready. Sending them early has no advantage, but sending them late would definitely hurt. It does not make sense to pay for the score report before you are sure you will apply to that school.
