When would y’all recommend that I send in my test scores? Would sending them early (i.e. July-August) be of any advantage?
D20 sent scores about 2 weeks before submitting her applications. That way she knew where she was applying for sure, which was great since she made a very late substitution in her list.
Many colleges allow self-reporting on the application. If so, there is no advantage (and a waste if money) to send before being accepted.
For colleges requiring an official score report with the application, there is no advantage, other than your peace of mind for crossing something off the list, to sending early.
So could I send my scores today if I wanted to? (for those who require it)
Yup
I have wondered if schools that consider demonstrated interest consider an early score report a positive.
My son was advised to send his scores early as demonstrated interest. Sent ACT in March and SAT in May. It’s impossible to say if it helped, but he did receive a couple personal emails from AOs.
Will it say on a school’s website which they are doing? Is there a running list somewhere? Thanks.
Unfortunately I have yet to find such a list, but I have googled “does insert university require official score reports” for several colleges and the consensus seems to be that (for this cycle) students can self-report scores and will only be required to send official reports once decisions are out and a student has been accepted to and enrolled into a particular college as a means of verification.
The school’s website will say, as will the application. Any 3rd party list may not be accurate.
I doubt that sending them in July vs. with the application, if they require an official report, will make a difference.
My D sent her scores from 8th grade using the free score sends, so she should max out the demonstrated interest at a few schools….
If that’s really a thing - I’m not convinced it’s anywhere near as meaningful as visiting, touring, even just engaging through a mailing list, etc.
