Hi! I received a 36 on the ACT and was wondering if it would be to my benefit to start sending that score to schools early. My counselor told me that sending scores early is good to show demonstrated interest, is this true? I ask because there are a few colleges on my list that consider demonstrated interest relatively heavily, but I’m not sure I’m going to apply to ALL of them. Should I pay to send them now anyway?
My daughter sent her ACTs to her top four schools when she took the test so they had them winter of her junior year. The following year, two of those schools contacted her to tell her that her application was incomplete because they were missing test scores. We went back through our records to confirm they were sent and it turned out that they never merged their two admissions data bases. Based on our experience, I would wait until you submit your common app.
I’m a current junior and I just took the April test, so the colleges will probably get them the summer before my senior year. Do you think I’d still be at risk for that problem?
Hopefully not! My daughter took the ACT Nov of junior year so they got them super early. Once you’ve submitted all your applications, just be sure to check the individual college portals to be sure they have everything. And congrats on the 36. That’s awesome!
Thanks!
No. Without an completed application, the college will simply file these away until the application is sent.
I doubt any college would consider this “demonstrated interest.”
Congrats.
