I'm planning on taking the SAT for the first time either in spring of this year or early fall next year. I took it before in middle school and I got a 1820, and a 6/12 on the essay, without any prep. How early should I start preparing this time? And what books should I use? Thanks!

I would reccomend to start start studying your freshman year. if you need to improve on CR section, start now because it is going to take time and practice!! Math i highly reccomend Chungs Book and for Cr, Barrons and writing zerica Meltzers guide to writing section of the sat. Do you have a plan yet? I would love to hear it and give feedback!

Thanks for the advice! But I’m actually already a sophomore. I don’t really have a plan yet, but my friend is going to a tutor, and she thinks that I should join too. I heard that a lot of people have gotten really good scores with his help. Do you think I should go?

Tutors might be helpful for math and writing but only you can improve on CR section. I would suggest PRACTICE! I am trying to get as much practice in for CR. Math and writing you just have facts to know. Once you have mastered the facts you practice as much as possible. CR i was horrible at first. But what i did was i took the blue book and did every single pass based questions wrote out the explanation which u can find on CB and but the end, i was pretty decent in it. I am a junior and am writing the sat in november so i want to practice everyday take full timed tests!
