When to submit housing app?

Ok I read that the results of the housing app will be sent out sometime in May 2010.

What if I sent the housing app early, but I end up not going to Berkeley? What happens to the roommate(s) that I was assigned to?

Basically, I am planning to turn in the housing apps to UCLA and UC Berkeley sometime in april before I decided where Im gonna go. Is this a bad idea?

Thanks

There is absolutely no reason to submit the Berkeley housing application early. You get no benefit from doing so at all.

Well to me the benefit is that I get it out of the way so I can focus on other things.

My question was, is there a consequence? Besides losing 30 dollars, would it be bad to submit the housing app without enrolling?

You can only submit the housing app after you have submitted your SIR

Thus you risk $100 for SIR, $30 for housing app and any consequences of double-enrolling depending on the other school you might attend, even if the last is less likely than the first two costs).

May 7 for Fall freshmen, other dates for FPF and spring freshmen and still others for transfers and waitlist.

I just submitted my housing app with a $20 application fee. Now I am stopped at step 10, and cannot actually “complete” the app until, I suppose, my actual offer is released. Will this be released by 5/7 or later?

In other words, does the 5/7 deadline just refer to what I already did (everything up to paying the $20 fee) or the whole application? Because the step isn’t getting checked off on myBerkeley page…
