I'm going into jr. year and was wondering when is the best times to take SAT/SAT II's? And when did you decide to take yours?

I would suggest taking a SAT II in October, the SAT I in November, another SAT II in May and the SAT I once more in June.

I would suggest taking it in the fall/winter and spring (if needed). If you are taking any AP classes that you like, take the SAT 2's in those subjects before the AP exam.

Take SAT IIs in May and June, especially if they correspond with AP exams you're taking. June is probably better if you're taking a lot of AP exams- studying for AP exams and SAT Subject Tests is similar, but not exactly the same, and you don't want to overwhelm yourself with too many different massive tests during a short period of time.

January and/or March of your junior year are good for the regular SAT. You could give it a shot in the fall of your junior year if you've already done a fair amount of prep work, but if you haven't started doing practice tests and such, I'd recommend giving yourself a little more time.

For the record, I took the SAT in January of my junior year (I was happy with the score and didn't retake), and the Subject Tests in June.

I took my SAT I in May of Junior year and again in October of Senior year.

SAT I - October, December, September (SR)
SAT II - May, June

I tried to make it so that I won't have an SAT test during midterms, finals, or AP exam week. SAT IIs is the complete opposite, corresponding with AP exam week and finals.

I will take mine the beginning of School, the missle, and the end. So, October, January, and finally May or June. I am not sure about my SAT 2 though...

I took SAT II's last year during June. May/June are the best times to take them unless you prepped during the summer.

I'm planning on the SAT I in March. That way, I know my PSAT results and can evaluate my weaknesses plus I have almost a full year of English 3 which should help for writing and CR. Of course, HS English =/= SAT English but the skills you learn help.

Yeah, I'd take the SAT in beginning of SR year, but i'm applying early to colleges, i don't think i'd have time to get my score back in time. Would i be wrong with this ?

^ I'd say you're wrong, out of personal preference.

Get all of your testing done BEFORE senior year and you won't have as much to stress about. I personally loved this, but saw many friends who were panicking about getting tests/scores done on time, let alone getting the score they wanted.

I did:

PSAT: October
SAT 1: May.
SAT IIs: June.

Retake SATs: October.

johnson i agree with u, i want to do a SAT II in Nov., another one in December, Take SAT in FEB. take another SAT II in April, and retake the SAT in may or june if i dont like my first score. do u think that's good? Honestly CC, do u think a month is a good enough time to study for a SAT II test? im aiming for a 730+, keep in mind, for the month period, ill be studying for it, constantly...

^Depends on the subject.

I took 2 sophomore year actually (bio and ush, at the end of the year). 1 junior year in may (math 2). SAT/ACT in May/June.

If I had known how well I'd do on the ACT (and that I wouldn't end up sending collegeboard scores nearly anywhere), I would have just left it at that and not bothered with sat 2's...

ACT pretty much pwns sat 2's where you can get out of it.

The way I'm doing it:

October: SAT I , if I don't get a good score...
December/January: SAT I, if I still don't get a good score...
March: SAT I, and that's the end of it.

June: SAT II in Math IIC, Chemistry, and Biology M.

do colleges see ur highest score on ur SAT I or do they get all of them, and only use your highest score?

They see all the scores, but take your highest.

alright, and one last thing, for the people who took multiple SAT II's test all in June, wasn't it difficult to do? I mean, wouldn't taking one SAT II each month be more easier, since you'll be focusing more on one subject?

^ Most people can study for two things, esspecially if they are easy to study for. A combination of Math and Literature would be easier than say...Chemisty and World history, because there are more thigns to know for the test. However, for some people, they can only study one at a time.

As an incoming sophomore, i only plan on taking the PSAT, PLAN, and the SAT II in World History (since i am taking the corresponding AP class and test)
