When to take the math placement test?

<p>I am an undeclared - physical science major in sixth college that is leaning towards chemistry and I was wondering when I should take the math placement test.
I am exempt from taking the test in order to take math 10, but if I am not mistaken I would still need to take the test because chemistry requires math 20.
The next four available dates are: 8-2-11, 8-20-11, 9-14, 9-16
I was wondering when is the latest I should take it because my math is a bit rusty and I would need some time to review a bit. An additional concern is that my class enrollment time is somewhere around 9-1-11 so I was wondering if 8-20-11 should be the latest date ( question: do I need to take the placement test before I'm allowed to register for the class?). However, I don't really live that closed to UCSD and the next time I have to go is on the 14th (move-in day and orientation).
Which day would be the test for me?</p>

<p>you should do it the earliest date so that you have enough time to take it over if necessary. that would give you an ample amount of time to review, as long as you aren’t messing around. you only have to know up to trig.</p>

<p>actually I got another question
on the chemistry page : [Chemistry</a> and Biochemistry Courses](<a href=“http://www.ucsd.edu/catalog/courses/CHEM.html]Chemistry”>Chemistry and Biochemistry)
some of the classes requires math, but it states that it can be either math 10A or math20A
is this true or not? because this website says that I am required to take math20A: [Testing</a> and Evaluation Office](<a href=“http://mathtesting.ucsd.edu/majors.shtml]Testing”>http://mathtesting.ucsd.edu/majors.shtml)</p>

<p>so which is it?</p>

<p>Course math requirement isn’t the same as your major requirement. If you look at the chemistry undergraduate major page, it’ll say that it requires the math20 series. On the other hand, the chem6 series only requires math10 series (at minimum). Bio majors (which only require the math10 series) also have to take chemistry courses. Always go by your major requirement, not the course requirement when determining what courses to take.</p>
