So I'm currently a junior who hasn't taken any of those standardized tests yet (SAT, SATII, ACT) and I'm wondering when I should take them. I don't know whether I should take the subject tests first or the actual SAT. I was planning on taking the December test for SATII for Chem and MathII but I feel unprepared and I don't want to waste my money if I'm just going to do bad.

Basically, I'm just asking for advice as to when I should take each test.

If you want to apply early action or early decison to any college, then you should plan on completing all tests by Oct test date 2011. If applying regular admission, by Dec test date 2011. When and how often you take them between now and then is your choice. Most take at least an SAT or ACT by spring junior year. Taking SAT IIs first is just as OK as taking SAT first. If you are ready for SAT IIs in Dec take them. Moreover, don’t use excuse that you are not yet ready. You have over a month to get ready. That is plenty of time to do so via practice tests, review. Understand that because you are human you will always be in that position for any test you plan to take in future, in that a month before you take the test you won’t be ready because until a month before any test it is high unlikely you will do anything to prepare for it.
