I was wondering at what year of college could you transfer to cornell? Does it have to be for your junior year or could u transfer to a college starting sophomore year instead? Thanks

It’s MUCH better to transfer your sophomore year. I transferred in my second year, and how no problem integrating into the cornell community as soon as I got here. However, the junior transfers I knew had a much tougher time adjusting. By junior year, most people have forged friendships and are heavily involved in ECs or sports or whatever, which is much harder to delve in to once you are already in your third year of school.

Also, transferring that late might cause a lot of difficulties with your courseload, since some of cornell’s programs are really specialized (as in, you aren’t going to be able to take and transfer courses at other schools that will match up with required courses in say, ILR, Hotel, Comm, etc).

But for me, the biggest reason I’d advise against transferring that late is that for me, 3 years here seems short as it is, because I love it so much. Time here really flies by, you’ll want to be here as long as you can :)
