When will decisions be released?

Do we have a definitive date yet?

no...ah i just want to know.
p.s. did you ED to penn too? username looks familiar. haha.

You couldn't ED to one school and EA to another - that's strictly prohibited according to the ED restrictions.

1 week to go........ the wait is murder

^kz26, you can ED...it's not prohibited by any means. in fact, uchicago sent an email out saying that their nonbinding EA program lets people apply ED to other places.
that's why so many uchicago applicants do ED to columbia, etc.

^^^WHAT?! I don't know if that really would have changed where I applied. To me Columbia and UChicago seem like different schools. The most alluring thing about Columbia is the ~20% ED adm. rate.

^Why do Columbia and Chicago seem like different schools? They seem very similar to me, and I think a lot of people ED at Columbia and EA at Chicago, or at least apply to both (in fact, about 10% of my Chicago interview consisted of a discussion of how similar Chicago and Columbia were, with me feeling very awkward the whole time because I had told her that I applied to Columbia ED, to which she began enthusiastically telling me that her husband went to Columbia while she was at Chicago...lol). They are both in a huge city, but within a smaller "college town" within the city. They both have an extensive core curriculum with an emphasis on certain core books. Columbia has a swimming test, and Chicago has a physical fitness test. They both suck at sports and have connections to Obama....lol, you get my point.

Oh, also, to answer OP's question, no one knows :( last year they found out Friday the 13th, I believe, so many are hoping we'll find out Friday the 12th this year, but of course it could also very well just be pushed back to the 15th...I wonder if the Uncommon Blog will post the date?

I heard many people talking about the 15th, which may very well be true b/c there's talk that Chicago admissions is spending more time debating the apps this year with fewer EA numbers and more RD applicants. I would count on the 15th, but who knows?

I vote we stand outside the admissions office until somebody tells us our decision!

^Better yet, break in and demand decisions lol.

but remember ab2013, last year they received somewhere around a 20% increase in EA applications but they sent out decisions 2 days earlier than expected. This year's 15% decrease won't delay decisions at all

GAH! I just want to know!! I've been on the blog all day, checking it every hour just to see if they have posted any statements. I'm going crazy here. I don't think I can go through this next week.

oh the joys of waiting..

I say that Columbia is different because (from what i've heard, obviously i don't have first had experience) it seems to have a different vibe going around the student body. Chicago is more quirky and shy, whereas Columbia is more outgoing. On paper they do both seem like the same school. I like New York more.

Some dude in the other post said that they were going to be released 12/15-12/19.

Spazzity- Since we're going the whole breaking-in route, why not be thorough and just hack the computers? (Just kidding- I abhor all illegal activities!)

A current student (or maybe she works in admissions?) said on the facebook group that they are shooting for the third week in December....

Just went back and looked at old posts -- Thurs., Dec. 13th was the date last year.

OMG, 3rd week of December? Dec 15th is the MONDAY of that week! I have my calc final the Wednesday of that week! Dude NOT COOL. You know, that hacking thing is starting to sound pretty appealing...now if only I knew more about computers that how to check my email, use facebook, and use CC lol.

What if Chicago admissions really did get hacked and then they found this thread? :X nah that's more likely to happen at MIT or Caltech or something lol.

Well, hacking isn't necessary. All of us are checking our accounts and the website so frequently (I can't keep my fingers off the F5 key) that it's going to amount to a DoS attack. We demand they release their decisions NOW or we shall keeping overloading their servers!

THat works, too. I'm already checking my email 20million times a day!
