When will decisions be released?

The electronic decision will be posted before we get anything by snail mail, right? Or could we possibly be getting the snail mail beforehand?

From what I understand, they e-mail decisions the same day they send out the actual letters- so you'll get the e-mail first.

so does anyone actually have a rational reason for why decisions might come out a certain day?

well it should be on the website...after you submitted your application you could activate your account, and mine says that soon they'll be posting application results

so does anyone actually have a rational reason for why decisions might come out a certain day?

GAH! Daggerman, don't do that again!! lol, my heart skipped 5 more beats when I read your post. I'm just going to keep on checking cc then this whole entire week. I'm sure that once decisions are up, there'll be a thread in less than 2 minutes.

they want to let everyone know on the same day and save people from wondering: "why did they get their letter, and i didn't? i DID press the submit button on my application, right? ahhhh..."

Hey guys,
I'm a Columbia-EDer, but I just wanted to say that I received an email saying that my decision would come on Thurs, Dec 11 at 5.
I don't know if schools usually send decisions out on the same day, but I decided to share that info anyway, just in case you guys wanted to know.
Anyway, good luck! =)

My admissions counselor said its probably not going to be this week:

"We don't know yet. Probably not this week is about the best I can tell you right now. We'll send you an e-mail once the decisions have been posted online."

Columbia has a history of coming out with decisions earlier than many places. When my daughter was applying, she got her kinda-bad news from Columbia a full week before her good news from Chicago. Not a happy week! Anyway, that year, and the next two as well, Columbia was the first big ED college to come out with its decisions, by several days at least. Chicago . . . usually one of the last, sometimes after the 15th.

Did anyone else open their email, see an email from "University of Chicago" and flip out, only to realize it was not the decision? LoL.

Ugh they need to be faster...last year they got it out the Thursday before the 15th, and there was a 15% decrease in applications this year! Come on, they should have decisions by tomorrow!! Though that's just wishful thinking on my part :/

I would have if I had not read your post first.

That's weird, I didn't get an email from them :(
I've received their emails before. What was this email about?

yeah UChicago seems to send emails to some people and not to some others.

Yeah not exactly sure what their deal with emails is... I just got an email asking me to evaluate my visit, and I visited in the middle of October lol.

What was on your email? Mine was about Chemistry and Classics...

I called.

Couldn't get more than "mid-December". :)

Why must Chicago be so ambiguous? Even if they do take more time than others to post their notifications I would just simply like a definitive date because I cannot concentrate on ANYTHING (well I wouldn't be able to even if I did know the date).

Guys. I have a confession.

If we don't find out by Monday, I might cry.

OMG, they sent this f@cking email TWICE. And made me flip out TWICE. Argh.

I think it's a "personalized" email just providing some more info on what topics you indicated you were interested in, and the types of opportunities that Chicago provides with their programs in these areas.
