When will I get info on how much Financial Aid I get

I applied to UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Merced. Only Davis had the exact amount of aid they are going to give me available for me to look at via my account (they pay for more than 90%). I have until June 1st to make my decision, so will SC and Merced update (preferably) well before then?

Can you tell us about UCD’s offer?
What is your EFC, parents income, are you coming out of high school or transfer from a CCC? Also how much is the cost of attendance and how much are they willing to pay exactly?(you said 90%) also what are your living arrangements? Living on campus off campus or commuting?

I’d be living there, Mom makes 30k, Dad 40k. Transfering in from a CCC. Living on campus.

This is what they sent.

Estimated Cost of Attendance
Tuition and Fees $13,896.00
Books and Supplies $1,560.00
Basic Living (Room & Board) $15,740.00
Transportation $620.00
Other $150.00
Total Estimated Cost of Attendance for On-Campus Student $31,966.00

The 2014-2015 UC Davis Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is estimated to be $1,869. The Estimated Cost of Attendance will be adjusted to take into account the SHIP fee after the Fall 2014 waiver deadline and financial packages will be adjusted based on updated eligibility.

Contributions
Student Self-Help $2,840.00
Expected Family Contribution (EFC) $5,780.00
Total Contributions $8,620.00

Financial Need . $23,346.00

Estimated Financial Aid
Fed Direct Subsidized Loan $5,000.00
University Grant $18,346.00
Total Estimated Financial Aid $23,346.00

Remaining Cost $0.00

Estimated Financial Aid by Term

Award Fall Winter Spring Summer 1/
Special Summer 2 Total
Fed Direct Subsidized Loan $1,667.00 $1,667.00 $1,666.00 $0.00 $0.00 $5,000.00
University Grant $6,115.00 $6,115.00 $6,116.00 $0.00 $0.00 $18,346.00
Total $7,782.00 $7,782.00 $7,782.00 $0.00 $0.00 $23,346.00

So yeah I’d just like to know when I can expect similar financial aid reports from the other UCs

Do you understand that you will need to pay too the school about $30k, plus you’ll have other expenses, and they are offering you $18k. The rest you will need to come up with, but you can take out loans for some of it.

<<<<<<

No they do NO pay for more than 90% (as a UC transfer student you should be able to do that math)

The cost is about $32K and the univ is giving you about 18,400 in free money (that’s about 57% of COA)

if you include the loan (that YOU have to pay back), then your aid is about 23,400 (that’s about 73%)

Have your parents said if they can pay their EFC?
You have almost a $3000 student contribution. You can borrow 500 more towards that. Do you have a summer job to come up with the rest?

Call the rest of the schools and get a time line from them and verify that your file is complete at the same time.

You are making the mistake of looking at loans as grants. All they do is defer the cost and often charge you for that time deferral. The subsidy takes care of that charge while in school but will likely amount to less than a thousand dollars as interest starts racking up as soon as you are no longer a full time student. You will have to pay back that $5K. When you get your other packages, make sure you subtract out the loans and work study from each, and work out what your think will be your bottom line total cost will be for each school, and compare. Otherwise you won’t be making direct comparisons.

where are you getting 90% from? Looks more like you are getting a grant that covers 57% and then you have to cover the remaining 43% ($13620) with loans and family contribution. How do you get 90% out of that?

You should look on the schools portals or call the financial aid offices there. Where did you get the information from UCD (that you posted above) if it just hasn’t processed yet don’t worry too much. Also; like the above posters have said, that isn’t 90%. The 18,000 in a student grant is nonetheless really good though! Your efc seems pretty high are your parents together or separated? If they are living together 5000 efc seems about right actually.

Lol sorry I meant 90% is about what I estimate I can count on being already at my disposal. That being the grant, my bank money, my parents (together) contrib, and then I have to come up with the money to pay the loan after, the 10% (very roughly) that I’ll have to pay later.

Though I’m sure I can come up with the rest via scholarships, job, workstudy, or other fam (grandparents).

And yeah I could try to get a job right now as well.

Now I did check all the portals, it seemed UC Davis was the only one that had the financial aid immediately available. I assume the rest will update soon. Hopefully in a week or two. And yeah I think 18k is quite generous!
