When Will RD Applicants Hear Back?

im honestly a little surprised. my school has information on the average gpa/test scores for acceptances into individual schools, and my stats were above bucknells. i have good ECs, great essays, and awesome teacher reqs.

It makes me a little nervous for some of the harder schools i applied to...

Iuileb,

Yeah, I got into my other safety, so I'm feeling good about that.

Thanks, and congrats to everybody who got in.

Anyone else think some major Tuft's syndrome is up? I mean, a few of you and I clearly have stats that warrant an acceptance, but we were waitlisted...

Something else I did not include was that I am a URM.

GossipGirl17, I don't know who that was directed at but I had great essays... I got a 5 on my AP english lang exam and an 800 on the SAT writing section. And as for ECs... 3x varsity captain

yeah I don't even want to go there so badly but its also and ego blow and now im nervous about other schools. My stats weren't as impressive as yours though.

Sorry I'm so stupid, but what's the Tuft's syndrome?

Now I feel strange! From what I see, all your scores far surpass mine, and I would believe that Bucknell was a safety for all of you who were waitlisted!

GPA: 3.5 UW, 4.2 W
SAT I: 1960 (1350/1600)
I suppose it helped that I was an asian female applying into engineering? I also had a lot of good EC's and recs.....

Anyways, I hope those of you who were waitlisted get into some ivys instead. Life works like that sometimes. :)

Yeah as it turns out it's not my top choice... but that has nothing to do with it's rank. I hope they're not assuming that some people wouldnt want to go there because they supposedly will get in elsewhere

did anyone who got in hear anything about money?

Chronicfuture12,

Maybe. Its weird, I got accepted into a slightly more selective university, and bucknell (in terms of rankings, which aren't the greatest things but still) was towards the bottom of my list. weird.

Tufts Syndrome is a colloquial term that refers to colleges waitlisting or rejecting applicants that are significantly above average expecting that they will be accepted into some more prestigious college elsewhere.

We need to remember that Bucknell is a super small school with very limited spaces open.

Of course they will have too many qualified applicants for the few spots. Of course they will turn down kids who should have gotten in.

It's not like those of us who are waitlisted lost out to some loser who got a 1300/2400 and a GPA of 2.38.

I bet it was hard for those adcoms to pick which ones to take, waitlist, reject. Just wish they'd taken US.....right? ;)

"Your Web access has been disabled. Visit the Technology Desk at 1st Floor Bertrand Library with your photo ID card for assistance." What a rip off. This is what I get when I try to log in to check my admission decision. How do they expect me to visit the technology desk? I live in f***ing Minnesota!

alexofsyrr, thanks for the definition. Hope it works that way!!!

it seems like no one got rejected though...

swissmiss3,

i hope so too, otherwise ill be attending my in-state safety :(

good point...........at least, no one on CC was rejected

yeah if they didnt reject and only waitlisted people this year because less people applied or something that would make me feel really bad

I don't doubt that those who were admitted are qualified. I actually don't think it was Tufts Syndrome. I think Buck puts especial emphasis on interest.

skateboarder, what's your in-state safety?
