When will the financial aid change?

Well, when I first applied to UC Davis I was considered out of state but I moved back to California after graduating from high school and live with my mom. So then when I changed my address the residence deputy asked for proof of my permanent move and I provided it, now they sent me another email saying that I have been determined as a California resident for tuition purposes. Well, I went to my awards to see the change in tuition and whether my financial aid would be less or not and I noticed that it hasn’t change. Does anyone know when that will change or if I need to do something in order to have it change?

I think it will take a few weeks to see any changes. They haven’t even shown my calgrant yet and it has been a couple of weeks.

Hopefully, it will change soon.We are pretty stressed enough as it is lol.

I’ve been told that from the time the FA office is notified of any changes, it can take up to 3 weeks before they are reflected online and put in their systems.

I can’t do summer school without financial aid, and I didn’t know that they needed my 09-10 Fafsa to award it until a week ago, so now I’m stuck in limbo. Also, for the regular school year my Cal Grant is larger than my University Grant, so the UG should get replaced by the Cal Grant, but it hasn’t yet nor can I be sure it will.

They haven’t awarded all of their scholarships yet either, so I can’t accept any loans because it will reduce my need.

It’s hell, because I might have more or less obstacles than I’m aware of. I have no idea what I’m preparing for. I can’t begin to look for an apartment or buy necessities because I have no idea what my budget will look like.

Sorry, I needed to vent.

when i contacted the financial aid office on my son’s behalf about a month or so ago, i was told that he would be receiving a ‘revised’ award sometime in mid-ish july. so i guess you just have to be patient til then. they probably need to re-assess their yield, plus determine how much $ they’ll be getting from the state funds (after the governor’s budget gets passed in july), etc. before finalizing awards.

not too much longer…

Thanks for the input guys turns out that they updated it today and changed. Took of the out of state cost and i’m so glad makes a HUGE difference and now I’m good to go.
