When you get accepted to Duke EA, do they send out thin or fat envelopes?

When you get accepted to Duke EA, do they send out thin or fat envelopes?

Big, fat, letters of love.

If you're worried about letter size, you're going to get the decision via internet before anything else.

As hard as it may be, I'm going to try and not look at the decision when it comes out online. It's such a big day that I've been waiting for the last four years for, it would be cheapened by seeing it online. I hope they send out letters fairly promptly along with the online decisions.

Prettiesttom, no offense to your determination in not checking online, but I think you'll last about an hour before checking online.

It's just mentally impossible not to.

No, prettiestmom! Stay steadfast in your resolve! I plan on doing the same :D (not for duke, though)

How do you find the decision online? I applied with the Common app so I don't have any sort of a password for Duke. Do they send you an e-mail?

shannon- duke will mail you an application confirmation letter (via snail mail) within the next couple weeks. in the letter, there will be an access code as well as instructions for viewing your application checklist/decision letter. i think that we'll also get an email as it gets closer to decision day with specific instructions as to when/how we can view the decision letters.

its stupid to not do it online... there is more anticipation because you have to click a bunch of times... when you are looking for an envelope it is immediately obvious.

Thanks dukebball. I have been wondering about that for a while.

maybe not "stupid", but definitely not the way that results in the most anticipation.

prettiesttom-Don't even bother trying not to find out online.
I joked about it with other people, but when 6:00 rolled around, I had to find out!!!!!! I was so happy that Duke sent out its decision before the Ivies did, :D!

mondo, what date did you find out you were accepted

you should definitely check online....if you don't, you will get a big letter that says welcome on the front. good luck!

The last Wednesday of March.

When I got my decision I couldn't check online because I'd forgotten my pin. Wound up waiting for the snail mail. It finally came while I was across town doing yardwork for my grandparents. My mom had to call me so I still didn't get to just see the envelope but it was still pretty cool.

So I would have to wait almost two weeks?

It takes some time to mail out those letters and some time to deliver them. They don't really count as regular/first class mail and Duke admissions definitely don't have the budget to express mail/ups/fedex/dhl them so they'll probably be delivered a bit slower then regular mail. So it all depends on where you live, the further from Duke, the longer the wait.

Edit: up to a certain point of course

Dec. 15th is a Saturday this year... any chance they'll backtrack and post decisions earlier than that? I find it hard to believe that they'd have someone in there to do it during non-office hours, but maybe there is some sort of computerized system that will allow them to input decisions ahead of time and set the system to release on Saturday. Any thoughts?

The system should be automated to release decisions at a certain time. I find it hard to imagine someone in the office manually clicking a button although the thought of it is kinda funny.
