do the grades you earned count towards your GPA? Or are only the credits counted and the GPA left unchanged?

Oh, I’d be interested in knowing this too. Would definitely be nice if they did count, but I know at my school, summer classes taken at other universities do not count towards our GPA, only for credit. So I doubt it would for transferring GPA too since it comes from your actual school. But maybe someone will know the exact answer, my response is just speculative xD

I called my school and they said they didn’t…seems to be the norm, I’m afraid.

Maybe it’s different with others? Call your school to make sure!

From what I recall, summer GPA usually doesn’t count towards your current institution.
However, the schools you apply will still use it to evaluate your applications.

If you have a 4.0 at your current institution, but a 3.0 during summer, they will no longer see you as a 4.0 applicant.
Similarly, if you do well during the summer, they will see that as a plus.

It’s different for all schools. I know my school will only accept summer credits with approval from advisor if you take classes at a four year institution.
