When your money wont get you into college.

A friend of New York high society told me that an elite American family (trust me, you would know who they are, many of you are applying to their university) wanted to get their daughter into a particualar ivy league school.

after sending her to the countries best private schools and having stellar stats,(SAT over 2000) they decided to donate a library to the college. (a few million dollars worth of library)

then she was rejected.......

Was there some sort of communications breakdown between the developmental/donations office and the admissions office?

nope, she didn't get in. sad, yet so funny.

This may be a blessing in disguise. Now she can get in to school on her own merits instead of the merits of her family money. Personal pride of accomplishment can be far more satisfying than buying her acceptance.
