Where Am I In the Process

On your chart does anyone have “Folder Pulled committee read” in their list?

The only thing that changed on mine was yesterday but it was dated Feb 24 and it said "Admissions Score Report Form". Does anyone know what that means? I'm assuming it means the score report of my SAT and ACTs from my actual application, but I thought it was weird because my SATs and ACTs have been up there for like a couple weeks already before this came up.

Sorry, Bird, I don't know the answer. This is discussed in more detail here if you want to ask on that thread: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/carnegie-mellon-university/658128-what-does-your-where-am-i-process-say.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/carnegie-mellon-university/658128-what-does-your-where-am-i-process-say.html</a></p>

Thanks, MamaBear, I will check that out. I remember reading something in the past on the MT CMU Forum talking about your question and I remember it saying that someone called and it meant if the file was pulled manually or by computer or something. But I'm sure this file pulled thing can also mean that actual admissions (not MT or Acting admissions) were looking at it, too.

If your file has never been pulled, does that mean anything either good or bad?

I posted earlier about the "Admission Score Report Form". I called the admissions office and they said it just means your SAT scores, NOT you score from your audition haha

lpc: my file hasn't been pulled yet either, you have to think of all of the people they have to go through, just stay positive :) good luck!

This is all a bit stressful--my D hasn't received anything but a deferral from PSU--one of 8 auditions.

I'm beginning to think the waiting is more stressful for us parents :) My D is cool and calm about everything now that auditions are done.

Thought this would help:

"OK, folks, here is the word from CMU admissions about the "file pulled" stuff on the online tracker. In a nutshell, it does NOT give a person any indication of what the likely final outcome will be, and is the result of whether a computer automatically "pulled" a file (whatever that means) or whether a human is handling it. Read here:

Please rest assured that the "file pulled" notation on the Where Am I in the
Process page is just triggered by an internal processing code. It has no
correlation to the ultimate decision on a student's file. Some students
have the code, and others do not, simply because some students have files
that are automatically pulled by the computer (triggering the code), whereas
other files are pulled by hand (these students would not have a code).
Regardless of how a file is "pulled for review," it is reviewed in the same
way, and there is no significance to whether a file is pulled by hand or by
the computer. Every applicant's file is pulled at one point or another!

Just thought I would put all our minds at rest ... as if that was possible!!!! "

Thanks for tracking that down! very helpful...

I should've remembered that from last year! :)

By the way, folks, if last year is any indication, the kids who are ultimately accepted will hear via email or phone call before their tracker thingie online changes. Those who are not accepted will get the "not accepted" (or whatever CMU's wording is) on the online thingie and that will be followed by a mailed rejection/non acceptance.

I caution everyone to remember that CMU takes very, very, VERY few people. That said, here's wishing success and acceptance to all who are waiting.

Thanks, NMR! And thanks for that extra bit of info from last year's about the 'file pulled'. You are right that acceptances will normally get an email or phone call beforehand. Waitlisters will find out online or by letter whichever comes first.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for CMU! As I'm sure many others are. I loved it!

I applied for the directing program at cmu and am anxiously awaiting a decision. do acceptances for all programs comes in the form of a phone call?

During my interview I thought he said i would know by mail but i don't really remember.

you should also be able to check on your 'where am i in the process'. i auditioned for acting/mt and students there told me that you hear either by email and/or phone call then you will eventually get a letter and can look online. But I don't know about directing, but check your 'where...process' and see what it says on there. Good luck! Hope we both get to go to CMU together this fall!

I believe that, at least last year, Gary Kline personally called the kids who were accepted to the class. This year, a friend of my D's was accepted out of the summer precollege program and he told me that one girl has already been accepted from the precollege program. Both of these are for musical theater.

Yes, NMR is correct, a friend of mine who also did Pre-College said that one boy and one girl were accepted early. She also told me that the boy has also been accepted to a few other programs as well.

My D thinks they decided the class last Friday. May not have long to wait now! Not sure how she got that info. She knows kids there, kids who applied, and looks for facebook info.

Yes, the young man who got in from CMU precollege has been accepted at several other programs. He is a good friend of mine and is just a wonderfully talented kid who also happens to be a really nice person. He's posted here in the past, so I won't presume to pass along all of his good news. He can do that himself.

The blank line (indicating a decision has been made) showed up on my D's process last week.
