Where are you in AP Psych?

I know we still have 5 months, but I've been self-studying on my own using the Myers textbook and Barron's. I've finished 10 chapters in Barron's, which covers everything past Developmental Psychology. Where are you guys in school or in your self-studying?

I’m self-studying.

I’m on page one in Barrons.

:)

I’ve looked at the cover on Barrons :]

I might open it sometime around March. February if I’m diligent.

We were about to wrap up motivation and emotion but the snow hit us right before our winter break.

My teacher jumps around the Myers textbook. Here’s what we’ve covered so far, in order:

Intro to Psych (prologue, chapter 1)
Social psych (chapter 18)
Biological psych (chapters 2 and 3)
Sensation and perception (chapters 5 and 6)
Developmental psych (chapter 4)
Personality (chapter 15)

We’ll be doing abnormal psych (chapters 16 and 17) when we return.

My teacher jumps around as well. I think we’re on the chapter about thinking.

Barrons book, chapter 2ish… But then again, I’m self-studying other AP as well.

I have yet to decide whether or not I will be taking the exam  Oh do I hate psychology…

But on the other hand, it is such an easy exam, one more step toward AP state scholar  And I’m already studying for seven exams so an addition of one won’t kill me (especially since it would take like an hour a night in April, then done).

Hm… I guess it will depend on how much my dad will actually pay for exams  That shall be a fun conversation…

My prep book is coming in a week.

our school uses Kalat…does anybody use it?

Haha WannaBYalie, that would be a fun conversation. My AP tests are going to cost me ≈$1000 since I’m taking nine tests.

I really wonder how much profit College Board gains off this program :/

Wow, that’s a huge load! I’m taking seven, so it’s around the same cost for me :frowning:

As for CB profit, I don’t know. It seems like they would make a ton, but I constantly hear complaints about underfunding. For example, AP Italian is no longer offered because they couldn’t get enough money. That sounds so odd to me, especially since we pay over $100 for each exam, and it can’t cost more than $5 to print the exam and send them to and from the testing center. Plus, I thought teachers who grade the exams were volunteers, so their time wouldn’t subtract from the CB’s profit. Very odd indeed…

Good reasoning WannaBYalie.

I think I’m taking about 10 tests so it’s going to be about the same as MrWheezy’s cost.

Well, they have to pay the test graders, pay their own employees, and pay the costs for writing the problems and printing the test booklets.

Oh, so they do pay the test graders? Still… the CB should be making quite an income, and in addition to what has already been mentioned, the CB sells old AP exams- making even more money (one would assume enough to pay for the writing of the exams if nothing more). And thank you, 082349 :)

Okay, somehow I ended up on the AP exams page on Wikipedia and it said that graders are given remuneration, paid for travel, and have free room and board.

^ lol those are probably for the “full-time” graders/employees
I highly doubt that the evil collegeboard corporation/empire will be THAT generous.

btw page 6 in barrons (self-studying)

No, essay graders are really given all of that. I’ve had quite a few teachers who grade AP exam essays every summer, and they’ve verified that.

I’m self-studying…

Page One, Barron’s =P
