Where can I get a cheap TI-89?

Where can I get a cheap TI-89?

thanks.

Ebay? .

I have no clue...

but out of curiosity, what do you need a TI-89 for?
TI-83's are still what's used the most in high school classrooms (i'm assuming you're in high school - as this is the high school forum)

TI-89 rocks. I've been using it since like 7th grade and now I'm in 10th grade. I wouldn't give it up for anything.

they didn't have it out in 2002... did they?

They came out in 2000. I know this because my math tutor is a math psycho and he has math stuff all over his classroom, including a huge painting of the TI-89 on his door with the year 2000 and the artist's signature at the bottom.

I want one for my math classes, and since I'll be doing math my whole life, I'll be using it then too. I've been using a TI-83, but it sucks. (anyone who is in higher math knows that.) I should have gotten an 89 instead, but i didnt know that they existed then.

Anyways...should i buy a ti-89 titanium or just a regular one? on ebay i think you can get an 89 titanium for about $90-110 give or take and you can get a regular 89 for like $50-70 give or take plus shiping. i'm kinda leaning toward a titanium, but $110 plus shiping is still alot of money to me.

Just get the regular one. Although the titanium has preloaded features, you can easily download those features into your normal TI-89 from the Texas Instruments site. There's really no difference between them, I just wanted to get a calculator of my own instead of continously borrowing one from my math tutor, and behold, Titanium is on the market. The home screen is exactly the same.

black market ;)

Cheapest way? Win some math award where it's the prize- our school gave them out as part of some award last year.

I got one for Christmas in 5th grade: sad, isn't it?

Wow...so much about calculators I never knew about.

I find TI-83+ plus to be perfectly useful in my math class - I don't know what defines "higher" math - but it's fine for bc calc...

TI 89's just make you lazy, 83+ has everything essential in it

see? another asian who agrees with me... don't get the 89...

89s are required at my high school...so are laptops with mathematica. Does anyone else go to a high school that uses mathematica on laptops to do math?

Get em on ebay, its cheapest there. Or go to you local store and see if there are any open ones that have been returned(ripped package/missing manuals = cheap), you may get one for cheap :).

Haha, I remember one of my friends had an idea about getting discounts at Best Buy for the titanium(they've marked down ti-89s with missing manuals before). He was going to have another one of his friends buy a titanium, take out the manual, and tear up the package a bit, and then return. Then he'd pick it up the next day at a lower price :-p.

But I guess thats pretty wrong morally.

and the friend wouldn't get a full refund either...

I'm pretty sure you get a full refund if its within a few days right? You may have to include the manual, but I don't think they would take off money if the package was just ripped. I remember it when I returned my mp3 player :).

I absolutely love my 89

it hasnt made me that lazy but it is so much more functional. I love how it works like a computer (always on insert mode, can easily scroll through/cut/copy/paste old answers and problems etc) and pretty print makes everything so much more fun.

I dont like the titaniums though, I had to search high and low for a new 89 because they only sold the titaniums. The classic case has a design that has proven the test of time and feels good in my hands (not to mention matches my 83+) while the 89Ti feels chinsy and the buttons are not as nice.
