Where can i go?

I will talk tonigjht with my parents about summer courses, it’s a very good choice but it will permit me to improve my english! I just need to know prices etc…

EDIT : just realized that concordia university wants : ‘‘All programs require either a TOEFL iBT score of 95, or an IELTS overall band score of 7.0, with no band below 6.5.’’ A score of 95, i have 2 months…

Read the websites.
If you can’t, then you won’t be able to pass the IELTS/TOEFL.

@MYOS1634 there is no info about prices, i tried to calculate via the calculator but looks like it’s broken

EDIT : If you guys hgave any info about campus gap year or something equivalent i will be very glad if you share it with me  And if you guys have any tips, and you want to help me ( for summer classes) i will be very glad

A couple weeks ago you said your parents have $120k. Yesterday you told @skieurope that they have $200k. That’s a substantial difference. I agree that it doesn’t sound like you have money to spare.

You posted the comment above in March. Have your parents changed their minds about wanting you to study in Europe? If they don’t want to pay for you to study in the US or Canada maybe you should focus on schools that are more affordable for them.

In the US there are summer classes in foreign languages. Are there any programs in France that teach English?

Guys, i can miss express my self sometimes but idk if you understand the thing is that even if you are rich ( my case ) you musnt forgot money’s value, with my parents we had 120k first whe ni decided to study in the usa and then we had 200k. But when we think about it, wasting that much for a degree is very bad, that’s why even if we have money, me and my parents want a good academic university with good prices. And even if we wanted to put 200k, a bachelor ( 4year) in the us is converted into 3 year officially which means i wasted 1 year, thats why i wanted to go to canada, quebec because they have agreements between france and quebec which means 4 year in quebec is 4 year in France. And i can afford easily summer courses, even at Yale for 8000 euros it’s not the problem. So guys be sure that i have 200k but i dont want to use it entierely. And let’s talk about european studies, after long researches and discussions with my parents we decided to not study in europe thats why im planning to go to Canada. And i want to take summer courses in the US, or a gap year on campus in the US to improve my english; My plan is : I want to integrate summer courses this summer and apply for concordia before september 1 i hope i will be accepted, because i must study outside of france, outside of europe and start january 2020 with my grades…

I dont want to stay in France, random universities are bad in my country, i have to go outside with my grades and find a good university/average university to finally integrate a good gradute school. I really want to integrate concordia

Take Intensive English at Concordia starting June 23.
“Students who successfully complete the Advanced 2 level with a final grade of 70% or greater, and who wish to enrol in full-time credited studies at Concordia University, will automatically meet the university’s English-language proficiency requirements for undergraduate admission.”

https://www.concordia.ca/cce/programs/intensive-english-language.html

Omygod thats awesome thank you so much @Hippobirdy
Is there any grade requirements? Bc i dont have good grades… Do i need to take a house by my own?

It seems like @Hippobirdy has a recipe for success. Take English at Concordia and skip Toefel all together.

@ilvermornyisolt
There is summer housing information here https://www.concordia.ca/summer/accommodations.html

Doesn’t appear to be grade requirements since you take a placement test one week before classes start.
https://www.concordia.ca/cce/courses/registration.html

P.S. application includes instruction “International students applying from outside of Canada should contact the nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate in order to determine what steps must be followed to ensure entry into Quebec and Canada for the duration of their studies. Students must arrive at least one week prior to the commencement of classes for their acceptance to be valid.”

You also have an English-speaking country a short train ride away if you want an immersive English language experience.

But again you need to figure out what you want to do. This thread is a series of “no I won’t/can’t do that” statements followed by reconsidering after you actually think about it (such as studying in Canada and the idea of a gap year). Also you can’t just arbitrarily decide to spend a gap year in the US. You need to look into what you want to do and if there is an appropriate sponsor and visa such as a J visa that will work. You can’t just arrive as a tourist and stay and do what you want for a year. I know you are only a high school kid but you don’t seem to be thinking things through properly and it doesn’t sound like your parents are helping you do so either.

@Hippobirdy Thank you for your help ! Im contacting the consulate soon! Do i need to register now?! @SJ2727 I totally understand this, im lost and i think it’s visible through out this thread. Im sorry.

Finally : My plan is to take summer courses Concordia then apply before September1

EDIT : If you guys have any other options do not hesitate to share it! ( options for summer courses, can be in the us,or canada i just want an official english certificate after)

What role are your parents playing in the research & decision-making process?

My parents even if they have hte money they dont have the intelectual skills to find universities because im from a migrant family from Turkey,t hey come to france in the 90’s which means that they dont know much about universities that why they trust me. The only thing that i need their acceptance is price ( if expensive ) and country

I admit to being surprised that they’ve been living in Western Europe for a couple of decades, clearly have been able to accumulate some significant assets if they have $200k available for college, yet don’t have the “intellectual skills” to figure any of this out. Coming from Turkey is not any kind of excuse either, I know a few people from Turkey and many more from the “third world” who are all perfectly able to do this stuff, and clearly your parents are not unskilled blue collar workers if they have been able to accumulate those assets from a position of being migrants originally. Yet they are willing to hand that big $$$ over depending on what you decide when you clearly are pretty much stumbling in the dark yourself. Something about this story is just not adding up for me.

When i said ‘’ turkey ‘’ it’s not an excuse, the thign is that they never went to school. And now they are CEO of a home construction firm. That’s it. And even if they are capble (i have no doubt) they trust me, i know more than them in school things

And when i said intelectual skills for universities it doesnt mean that they are not intelligent, it’s just that they gave me their confidence in this situation

Apply for Concordia’s summer program+ accomodations. It’ll be an official program and it’ll help out both improve your English and get into Concordia.

The courses price is 5000 canadian dollars, and the accomodation same, it will cost around 10 000 canadian dollars for 1.5 months ( even if i have the money to afford it dont you guys think it’s a bit expensive) ?
