Where can I transfer to?

<p>GED recipient.
Will have AA from community college in Spring.
Lots of Withdrawals and Repeats on transcript.
Also one semester at public univ. w/ 1 Withdrawal and 2 F's.
3.135 current GPA, 3.33 expected after this semester @CC.
Slightly older than traditional-age students.
No EC's since HS.
Some work experience.
Want to major in Linguistics.
Prefer to go to college someplace warm or at least with mild winters.</p>

<p>Since most deadlines have passed, I am most likely looking at applying for Fall of 2009. What can I do in the meantime to improve my chances? I am planning on taking a foreign language and working. Should I consider taking some classes I don't need (and that may not transfer) just to improve my GPA? Also, where should I look to apply to?</p>

<p>I have checked which colleges in CA (that have Linguistics) are still accepting applications and they are SJSU, CSUN, and UCR. Do I have a chance at the first two? Should I even apply to UCR?</p>

<p>I am also thinking of applying to U Oregon and U Arizona.</p>
