"Bill Cosby- Rumored to be in the 400s, total."

on the contrary, I believe Cosby holds a PhD... I highly doubt he got a 400 on his SAT and went on to get his PhD. He's a huge promoter of education and is probably brilliant.

Didn't Sharon Stone go to Princeton?

kazz you are assuming that SATs are tied to brilliance...Bill Bradley became a Rhodes Scholar and he had a 490.

um...no he didn't

he got 485 verbal

Hamster, your missing alot of good Princeton people, eg. President Woodrow Wilson, Senate Majority Leader (and possible future president) Dr. Bill Frist, Senator Bill Bradley, etc.

Whatever...you get my point.

How about impressive people who didn't go to prestigious colleges? :) That's more interesting, imo.

"Desperate Housewives" star, Terri Hatcher attended De Anza College (community college) located in Cupertino, CA (Cupertino is where the HQs of Apple Computers is located) - and she went to play Lois Lane in the Superman series and now is enjoying fame in the national spotlight. Another 'famous' individual who attended De Anza College is the creator of the Nickelodeon show "Invader Zim," Jhonen Vasquz. Indeed, De Anza (although a community college) arguably has one of the finest film/media departments in the nation.

That's what this entire thread is about. Mr. B wanted us to take home the feel-good message that "Hey, maybe if I don't get into Harvard life isn't over!". So let's kill this thread. I've closed it.

Aw, Amused - and I had just started the list of impressive individuals who didn't attend prestigious colleges! :)

You can post it if it makes you feel better.

Amused: I meant to say that I already made a short list of individuals. Refer to post #68.

hmm... speaking about ted bundy.. my ap gov. teacher knew him while she was in college and while he was killing people.

wow...that's...interesting.

Bush and Kerry went to Yale.

With under 1300 SAT's.

Celebs:
Adam Sandler
Oliver Stone
Alec Baldwin
Martin Scorcese
Ang Lee
M. Knight Shamalan
Christy Turlington

Business:
Larry Silverstein (billionaire and leaseholder to the World Trade Center site)
Ken Langone (founder of Home Depot)
Martin Lipton (bigwig NY lawyer)
Steve Florio (Conde Nast CEO)

Gov't:
Alan Greenspan
Rudy Guiliani
Ed Koch
Senator Lamar Alexander
Congressmen Chris Shays and Charles Rangle

Other:
Paul Tagliabue (NFL commish)
NHL commish whose name won't be mentioned since I'm mad about the season being canceled.

Keep in mind that when Bush and Kerry went to Yale, Yale was not as competitive, and the SAT's were not recentered, so those same scores are probably a 100 pts. higher today.

It wasn't so much so everyone could feel good about not getting into HYP as much as it was to help people realize that finding a school that fit you might lead you away from the 10 most popular or even the top 50. Edison did okay without a college, some people make excellent use of the colleges closest to them without relying on the prestige of a more famous school. Granted job interview doors do tend to open for certain school names easier than for others.

Does anyone know where the Governor of California went to school? I don't think he is a college graduate.

Arnold got a degree from UW-Superior
