Everyone at my school who has a 4.0 is a valedictorian. We also don’t weight classes so there’s people who take really easy classes who are and other talented people academically who aren’t. Grrr, my one B. Most go to the state flagships which have okay scholarships.
80% of the graduates at my public NYS high school, all go to SUNY. @1989swiftie
Harvard
Yale and Tufts (there are two)
Aww good for them, both very great schools!!!
@garvey @hedgehogaethers
My D17’s school (graduating class of 27):
Valedictorian: University of Alaska Fairbanks (the in-state flagship, for engineering)
Salutatorian: Muhlenberg College
For what it’s worth, the one who was third in the class is weighing whether to go to the University of Alaska Fairbanks or the University of Alaska Anchorage. (She has until 1 July to decide between them, due to the weird way they work admissions up here.)
All three of them made their decisions in great part based on heavy merit money.
Tied Vals - one to community college, then GaTech, then UMiami. She’s an engineer.
The other- have no idea what happened to him.
Sal - UMiami, full tuition merit scholarship
I think that is truly, really really smart to do that!!! I wish them the best of luck!!! @dfbdfb @TQfromtheU
Val of 2017: (me) Duke through RD, one girl from my class got into Princeton EA (she had a huge legacy - donated a building)
Val of 2016: Dartmouth ED
Val of 2015: FSU Honors, but some kid who wasn’t val or sal got into MIT I think
Val of 2014: Cornell RD
Val 2016 - Yale
Val 2017 - Tufts
Haha congrats to you and everyone!!! @lhw1998
Nice!!! Thanks for sharing! @CHD2013
UC Davis, med school at UCSF and then a few years later, he jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge
Oh my gosh!!! That’s so tragic!!! @Emsmom1
My D was either Val or Sal (school doesn’t recognize) and she is attending Skidmore. No one from her class went IVY. One classmate is at NYU Abu Dhabi but most of the top students are at either UMassAmherst CHC or top 50 LACs in the northeast.
2013 Mt Holyoke(shut out of the Ivy League schools she applied to)-recently heard she was accepted to a Harvard PhD program though!
2014 Dartmouth-deferred ED and then rejected to mostly everywhere else he applied to, but was accepted RD
2015 Princeton-accepted everywhere
2016 UNLV-shut out at the elites so went with the NM full ride
2017 Olin
2017 Bowdoin
2016 Cornell
2015 RPI
2014 UCONN
2013 Brown
Long ago val was me. I went to SMU, grad school at U of Houston for MBA, worked in oil company for 4 years and have been happily at NASA ever since, mission control, management and now project lead. Stepped down a little by choice to deal with a daughter with mental health issues.
Skidmore is an amazing school!!! @NEPatsGirl I love the Saratoga Springs area! I wish your daughter the best of luck in her academic endeavors!
Great colleges! UNLV is the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, right? @planner03
