Instate I got rejected from U of I's undergrad business school and accepted to general studies, yet got into UCLA Bus-econ, NYU Stern, and BC. Leaning towards UCLA which I guess keeps me from being bitter about uiuc :)

I got waitlisted at Pomona and my heart hurts.

Cornell.
Deferred ED, sent in letters of interest. sighs
Amazing extracurriculars and stats within range.
I'm from a toronto public school. Three people got in from our school this year, either for hockey or for art. I can't help but think my "saving women from a future of festering sores and infertility in China" and how much that experience meant to me and to the girls I spoke with is worthless in this society.

Reed and USC.

Deferred and then rejected by Yale with several generations of legacy. Accepted to Stanford regular decision after applying on a whim and writing my essays in the space of one evening. I'm thrilled about Stanford, but sort of confused.

i got in to northwestern but not usc.

Lots of people seem confused. My mom's friend read about the rejections and about some CC kids rejections at CEOmum - Parenting is a Full Time Job: Rejected by the Ivy League and agree that it can be very confusing and sad for many kids. Next year I guess I will be filling out a lot of applications.

My friend was rejected from UCLA but got into University of Chicago.

Some of these stories are really depressing. I get pretty good grades, I'm an Eagle Scout, my school doesn't do rank, but I'm pretty sure I'm in the top 10% (for now now). But hearing about the validvictorian, student prez, athlete getting rejected from Stanford makes my extremely nervous about Notre Dame.

hawaiiboy don't lose hope. Learn from the experiences of all. Plan your list carefully, apply to safeties, visit schools, learn about them, focus on your strengths. There are lots of positive stories out there too.

D got waitlisted at Sarah Lawrence when we thought she was a sure thing.

I thought I should be I able to get into Whitman and Oberlin, but was rejected outright by both.

My D is waitlisted at Scripps and Occidental. She was rejected by USC, her first choice.
Given this highly competitive year, is there even a remote chance that colleges and universities will dip into their wait lists? The odds seem remote, but my D wants to give it a shot.

Into Notre Dame and Colby (waitlisted at UPenn) but waitlisted at Colgate.

Aren't ND and Colby a bit more competitive than Colgate?

Tulane and Pitzer wait listed me and Wesleyan rejected me.

UT Austin.

screw em.

i'm going to a better school anyway.

UT Austin-Plan II Honors (got in to Liberal Arts Honors)! I was so mad, and it happened right after they called me to interview for a $13,000/yr + $4000/yr Nat'l Merit scholarship. Clearly, the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.

Oh, who cares anyway. I'm going to Princeton.

I got into Georgetown and Middlebury, but not UCLA or Cal...but I guess I'm out of state so its pretty competitive. I also thought I'd get into Dartmouth, but I'm on the waitlist unfortunately :(

I got into Dartmouth and Pomona but was rejected at Georgetown, Duke, and UT-Plan II (in-state).

I was waitlisted at St. Lawrence lol but I'm a bit nervous that the reason might have been because I'm going to Japan next year for Rotary Youth Exchange and they might have questioned whether or not I will want to go to St. Lawrence when I come back. St. Lawrence is my top choice.
