^^Congrats elizabethh and your family!!! sooo nice to be done…

Congrats Elizabethh! I’ve enjoyed learning about your S, his many acceptances and now his decision. Now you can relax!

Congrats Elizabeth. My nephew is a soph at U Of Arizona and loves it.

My son (HS junior) has told me that none of his other friends are looking at schools either but I’m adamant that we do this now. He’s on board with the visits but can’t quite understand why no one else is doing them. I know from my other two kids that fall of senior year can be a real pressure cooker with the applications and there will most likely still be a couple of colleges to visit. I would hate to just start looking in September and expect to have applications done in December.

There is not a lot of fervor for college visits/shopping in the junior year here either.

Most kids here stay instate so end up visiting during senior yr.at all the Fall open house days. None of the parents I know are as involved with their kids college apps./choices as CC’ers.

Congratulation Elizabeth. I tried to interest my daughter in U of A once i read about the SALT program but it’s a no go with her. iwish now that we had gone and looked at the school when we were looking at ASU. As of right now, if the FA is good enough, she will be at ASU.

Thanks for all the good wishes - I am so grateful to all of you for your input and support over the last few months! Peg, I’m glad your daughter is going to ASU - I know that was what she wanted.

elizabeth fantastic news!!! So glad for you and your S. His initial acceptance at NAU gave all of us with kids with gpas in this range considerable hope!

I will continue to follow this thread, so keep posting acceptances everyone! I can’t wait to see where all the kids end up.

Not a parent, but I’ll post my stats. I graduated in 09
3.3 GPA, 1950 SAT, 2 APs, a few honors, ECs nothing too special (choir, 1 year JV, 2 years varsity track, a couple clubs, some volunteering)
accepted: UCR, Sonoma State, SF State, Humboldt State
rejected: UCSC

Congrats!

So…what did you do? How is it going? I’m hoping my kid ends up at Sonoma.

I go to Humboldt now, and for the most part my first year is going well.

Good luck to your son! Sonoma is a great school.

magical, why did you pick Humboldt over your other options?

I chose Humboldt because I wanted a smaller school (SFSU and UCR seemed to big for me). I made my final choice between Sonoma and Humboldt and I just got a much better feeling at HSU. No one seemed that happy when I visited SSU so I thought I’d probably be happier at Humboldt.

Hello everyone! I’m a prospective international student (certainly not a parent!). I just couldn’t help popping out of nowhere just to convey a big thanks to all of you for boosting my self-confidence! This thread is an asset to the forum!
I do not have a GPA between 3.0-3.3 but my SAT scores are unusually low with respect to my GPA. I had almost slipped into depression thinking that I may not be able to get into a good college with a decent financial aid package. You’ve given me a lot of hope! Thank you very much !! God bless !

GPA 3.3 UW, 3.45 W; transcripts a little lackluster due to special needs status. ACT 29. Literary magazine, a few other school clubs, plus some speaking gigs at autism education conferences. Honors: two in-school academic awards, two poetry contests.

Accepted:
Agnes Scott College
Maryville College (TN, not MO) - $11,500 merit scholarship

Rejected:
Hendrix College

Waiting On:
Beloit College
Earlham College
Grinnell College (like that’s gonna happen)
Guilford College
Kalamazoo College
Lawrence University
Ursinus College
The College of Wooster

Applied, but then withdrew my application for complex reasons:
Smith College
Clark University

I’ll keep everyone posted as the decisions roll in. Congratulations to everyone who has done well!

Good luck, Miss P!

My daughter (unweighted 3.175 / weighted 3.2) has been accepted at University of Oregon. Hooray! Still waiting to hear from University of Puget Sound and University of Victoria.

eabeeb. Are you in state for U of O?

eabeeb - congrats!!

Son was just accepted to F&M. This is his top choice so he’ll be saying no to the rest.

Congrats Warriorboy!!! Great news!!! No more worrying now…
