where do Gtown students generally stay during the holidays if they cannot go home?

Although I am a US permanent resident, my only permanent residence is 6.5 thousand miles away, making it hard to get there during 1-2 week school breaks, both physically and financially. What do you think are the best options available for Gtown students in this case? I know they cannot stay in dorms.... It seems they allow students in townhouses to stay but those townhouses seem pretty abandoned and have only dial-up internet connection. How can I even get a townhouse?

Any comments in this regard will be helpful.

First of all, Georgetown allows its students to stay on campus during holidays with the exception of Christmas break. So you’d only have to worry about the 3 weeks we have off in December/January to find somewhere to stay.

Also, everyone finds somewhere to go eventually. Even if you have to find a friend you’ve met at school to stay with over Christmas… but I’ve never heard of anyone not going home for Christmas.

As far as townhouses go, only juniors and seniors live in them. And you can either get them through the school (mostly juniors), or once you move off campus as a senior since there isn’t enough housing for everyone. Freshmen and sophomores don’t live in townhouses, though, because you’re required to live on campus those two years.

Yes, I know people often stay with friends but since I am hoping to transfer there next year, I do not know if I will find someone in just several months. I am willing to travel in summer but I am worried about this Christmas thing…

FutureTransfer-This may be out of left field, but you may consider finding a way to sublet a room in one of those condos over the Christmas break. I bet you could Craiglist it around October and may get a place for a reasonable price, say $300 for the 3 weeks?
