I'm a guy and I'm expecting to trim my beard weekly. I'd feel gross doing it in the sink area. Where do college guys shave?

Also the bathroom is a communal bathroom shared by about 20 guys.

Every guy I know shaved in the community bathroom…

Bathroom, where else would they? Just make sure you clean it up after use.

Most guys shave in the bathroom, where else can they normally shave? But some also shave in their room. I know people who use electric shavers that don’t need shaving cream or water. They just trim their beards in their room with a trashcan underneath.

But most does it in the bathroom. No need to hide it from others…

The Bathroom… I have never once seen hair in the sink in the shared bathroom in my hall. If you feel gross about that then I can’t wait to see your reaction when you realize you will be using a shower used by at least a dozen guys!

Shower works, if your shower allows (scope of it) get a steam free shower mirror.

In the shower or your room with a pitcher of water or wet washcloth.

Thanks for the answer. So should i shave in the shower or over the sink?

Depends. I usually go to the barbershop, as my last college had an on-campus barbershop, but I know a lot of dudes at my old college would just use electric clippers and trim their beards in their room. Or in the community bathroom.

People still go to barbershops for a shave??

To the OP: sink for men, showers for women.

What kind of question is this? In the ****ing bathroom.

If you feel odd about doing it in front of other people or think cleaning a sink that many use is grotesque, you can always learn to do it in the shower like others have said. After the first three times or so you learn where all of the areas you typically miss are (for the first few times that you do mess up, you can finish up in the sink). Alternatively if it’s the idea of a shared bathroom that disgusts you; nearly every college has some bathrooms that aren’t visited too much by others. They’re typically the ones that are away from general education classes (ie around graduate areas). It is also common to have a minimum of one that’s unisex ergo you will be the only one that can use it.

What? Who does that?

Most guys shave (and brush their teeth) in the shower.

If you have one of those Braun electric shavers, you can pretty much do it anywhere. But if you’re into shaving with the razor and cream, then the dorm bathrooms (or your own) is your best bet.

bathroom is where almost everyone does it

Guys brush their teeth in the shower? o_O
That’s kinda strange.

^ I have never done or heard of such a thing.

I knew plenty of people who brushed their teeth in the shower. I did it. Saved time.

Now that I have a real bathroom in an apartment, I don’t do it.

When I first got to college, I thought it was really strange that everyone naturally brushed their teeth in the shower. I eventually adopted the habit because everyone else was doing it. Might just be a Minnesota thing. Totally unheard of where I’m from in Texas.

I’ve heard of this. I know someone who still does it that lives at home.

Since I’m never going to be living in a dorm, I’ll never adapt this habit. Lol.
