I am a parent of prospective Wharton undergraduate student. I wonder where do the Wharton kids end up after the college? Only Wall street , banks? Anywhere else? What are the job prospects? Do they need to do masters degree to rise high up in the ladder?

consulting is a big one

but for the most accurate info:

[Career Services, University of Pennsylvania](http://www.vpul.upenn.edu/careerservices/wharton/surveys.html)

What kind of question is that? Anyone who has enough passion in them can do anything they want to do anywhere in the world they want to do it; Wharton graduate or not. You’ve just got to have the passion.

Jeez

Wharton is professional business school. They will be in business fields.
Not politics (No US president from Wharton).
Not technology fields ( there is no Bill Gates type people from Wharton.
Not Science Math firld( No nobel laureates in science from wharton)
Is there Nobel Laureate in Econ from Wharton ?
No artists nor musicians from wharton…
Not in sports…

**

Actually Jay Livingston and Ray Evans were both Wharton alums. Also Alan Livingston, brother of Jay, Wharton alum too.

jomjom’s post notwithstanding, Wharton alums have ended up in a wide variety of fields–including many nonbusiness fields–over the years:

[List of Wharton School alumni - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](List of Wharton School alumni - Wikipedia)

Haha…my last name is Livingston and after I graduate I’m going into the music field.

“Is there Nobel Laureate in Econ from Wharton ?”

Lawrence Klein was affiliated with both the Econ Dept and Wharton.

jomjom, also, please try to do a little more research and to support your points better instead of writing meaningless statements like “not politics (no US President from Wharton)” and “not technology (there is no Bill Gates type people from Wharton)”. It is a fact that there are plenty of high-profile people in both politics and technology that attended Wharton. Further, even if there weren’t, it is quite absurd to give US Presidents as an example to support the politics claim, not to mention “Bill Gates type people”.

According to Wiki Lawrence Klein graduated from Berkeley undergrad and MIT grad. He was faculty at Upenn. We are talking about Wharton ““graduates””…
So about 600 Wharton gradutes receive BS in Economics and few hundred more from CAS,
and no Nobel Econ prize from either school ?
Anyone can answer this ?

Well Bush graduated from Harvard Business School and he was president

jomjom, yes, by “affiliated” I meant he was faculty, and I was not implying he graduated from Wharton. It is not very relevant where Nobel prizes go to undergrad anyway. It is much more relevant where they did their PhD or did their major research.

Wharton graduates rarely pursue a career in academia. Wharton’s degree is very different from traditional degrees in economics in that it lacks the usual emphasis on economic theory, instead focusing on more practical areas like accounting and finance (derivatives, corporate valuation, etc) rather than general economics.

^ Although there are some Ph.D. economists who began their academic careers as Wharton undergrads. Anyone who regularly watches CNBC, CNN, etc. will recognize this guy:

they end up in hell

Hm I’m in Wharton and I have a policy internship this summer so I’m pretty sure I’m not out of the running for politics… There are a bunch of people who feel passionate about things like public policy, real estate, etc, and the business world is not clearly distinct from the political world.

Let’s not be close-minded here! =)

“Not technology fields ( there is no Bill Gates type people from Wharton.)”

The CEO of Tesla Motors is a Wharton grad.

jomjom is mostly a ■■■■■.

I’m a Wharton grad and going into a technology field, and I intend to be the next Bill Gates :-)

you already graduated ?

I will be graduating in 1 month, and I’ve turned in all my paperwork. Does that count?

Once you receive a UG degree , you can’t be next Bill Gates
