April 5th. Nothing. Got deferred EA. Everyone else I know of, literally everyone has heard by now. Did they lose my app or something? My link and deferral letter are still on wolverine access. I check my e-mail like twice every day. All I can say is I’ve been waiting since October 18th when I submitted my application.
I am a big U of M fan but I believe that Michigans failure to issue all decisions by April 1 is inexcusable. I would like the Common App to absolutely require members to issue decisions by April 1. I know they say you’ll hear by " mid-April" so you shouldn’t have to wait much longer but I’m sorry you have to wait. Michigan should be ashamed.
Have you emailed and asked if your decision is still pending?
So sorry you had to wait past April 1st. I see your passion on other posts. You deserve to be there. I’m pulling for you man! Best of luck.
Thanks guys!!! @maya54 @MichiganDad22
& no @momofthreeboys because they will say the same thing “all decisions will be out by early/mid april”
Update: April 7th and still nothing.
@uofmfan I think it’s worth another call by you or perhaps your high school guidance counselor or principal to admissons on Monday to make sure that your application is in fact still under review. There is always a chance, albeit small, that your application got lost or misplaced or that a decisIon was rendered but never communicated to you. You won’t know for sure unless you ask. They may say all decisions will be out by early/mid April but whoever answers the phone owes it to you to check to confirm that your application is indeed still in the active pile of last few applications waiting for a final decision.
I totally agree that it is worth a phone call.
Read old threads. By this time there are extremely few places left. What the university is doing is seeing how many accepted students take up their places, and then makes offers to those still waiting to hear. It is what one person called “the pre-waiting waiting list”.
Looked at another way, if you haven’t received a decision, that is saying something. While you have not been rejected, you have not been offered admission. I’d plan accordingly.
Do call or email them. But if they say they cannot give you a decision, I’d take that for the sign it is.
Update: April 10th and still nothing.
Did you call them?
Yes @momofthreeboys ; response was “your application is still under review” they wouldn’t give me a definite date
Would you say the OP has a slightly better chance than those already received waitlist offer?
well obv @GoBlue81 they couldve waitlisted/declined me ages ago.
I stay up every night until 12am in hopes of my decision but I get nothing, this is exhausting.
@uofmfan You really shouldn’t do that, it’s going to do more harm than help if you keep stressing yourself out waiting for your decision. What I’d say is, if you are going to check WA every day, don’t do it at midnight even if there is a chance decisions can come out. I’d wait until either you get an email or wait til the Friday of the current week to check. I can definitely say that I was extremely stressed while waiting for decisions especially when my classmates were getting theirs. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you’ll be getting some good news soon!
THANK YOU @an24776
Hey, @uofmfan I’m in the same exact boat as you. April 14th and still no decision. I’m super stressed out, but learning that you were in the same position kinda calmed my nerves. Hoping for the best for both of us!
A data point for anyone who is waiting. I did the chat line thing with admissions today. They looked for my son’s application to see what was going on. They said it had not yet been fully evaluated. He is a recruited athlete, so maybe there is more to it than that - maybe they are waiting to see who else commits in his sport. Hard to know. They did give me an email for someone who might be able to give us a date for a decision. At least we know the application is still in the system.
Waitlisted. Made me wait this long. Now they want me to wait more. Nope, declining. Everything sucks. Goodbye…it was fun college confidential
