There’s an item on my university portal’s to-do lists that require me to submit MY tax transcript. I talked to the university’s financial aid office and they told me that because what they received on my FAFSA for MY financial info was blank so the system automatically asks for the tax transcript. I just need to update that info on my FAFSA to $0 to make the item on the to-do list go away.
According the the student aid report, that section begins with question 32. But I spent an hour looking for question 32 and still can’t find it. There’s no section that asks for my financial information, even though on the report it lists those questions (32 to something). (Everything related to my parents’ financial info is completed already)
There is a student income and assets portion to fill out. I don’t know how to tell you how to ‘find it’ it has been too long since I have filled it out. I recall I filled out my section with my PIN and my daughter filled out her section with her own pin. Hopefully someone will be along to help. Meanwhile see if this federal guide helps you:

My recollection is fuzzy but as I recall when you do a fafsa the first time it takes you sequentially through the sections. When you go back in to edit though, I thought there were tabs for the parent section and the student section that you click on.
If you go to IRS.gov you can request a tax transcript. My son’s college wants a signed copy, so I had to request that one be mailed to us, even though we used the data retrieval tool on the FAFSA.
I think the problem is that the student didn’t enter income and asset numbers for the student portion, which has to be entered even if it is zero (if I am reading the post right.)
@BrownParent: yeah you understood the problem correctly.
I do remember that when I first started the application there was a section about student income, but now i’m editing i can’t find it anywhere.
Should’ve read the guide back in March. Thought there wasn’t one. “If an answer is zero or a question does not apply to you, enter 0 (zero). Do not leave any of these questions blank.”
Hi, I’m encountering this same problem and wanted to know if you ever found question 32? The IRS website won’t allow me to request a transcript online because I never filed so I’m unsure of what to do at this point.
Already answered on another thread.
