I am, in every sense, a non-traditional student: twenty-seven year old father of one with many gaps in educational career.

I dropped out of high school in tenth grade, attained a GED some years later, enrolled at a local community college and did rather well. However, after earning 43 credits in a liberal arts curriculum, I was forced to leave college to battle. Now a little more than three years later, I quit my job and decided to go back to school to pursue a bachelor's in molecular biology with the intent of becoming a doctor.

Here are the schools I recently applied to:

University of Iowa (Accepted)
University of Texas (No decision as of yet)
Bard College (Accepted)
Wake Forest University (No decision as of yet)
Washington University in St. Louis (No decision as of yet)
Emory University (No decision as of yet)
George Washington University (No decision as of yet)
Boston University (No decision as of yet)

As a non-traditional student, I didn't have much help throughout the college application process. Yes, I had a tutor, but he didn't help much. He had great trouble helping me highlight and augment my unique life experiences. I pretty much went through the process on my own. And that's why I thought I would create this thread: to provide non-traditional students with a place to share their experiences, seek help, and have general discussions.
