Hi, I have been accepted to the University of Rochester and I am planning on going onto med school from here. Is there a link or any information available that could give me a good idea of how well pre-med students at U of R do when it comes to getting accepted to med schools?

One of the reasons that Rochester's numbers may not be as high as some other schools is that Rochester doesn't use "gate-keeping" to decide who gets to apply to medical school, as some colleges do. Anyone who wants to apply can.

Actually I just did the number crunching for my D--who will probably enroll as a pre-med at which ever college she finally selects.

Based upon the 2007 numbers from the premed advising office,
approximately 60% of the seniors who applied to medical schools were accepted. Many ended up at one of the SUNYs or other NY area medical schools, but graduates also matriculated at Duke, JHU, and WashU. There does not appear to be any preferential acceptance into Rochester's medical school for Rochester graduates.

For the database of where matriculated med school students graduating from Rochester ended up for the years 2002- 2007:

Please note, that the 2007 results includes a number of graduates who were applying to medical school after gaps of up to 7 years. For my calculations, I only counted those who listed their year of graduation as 2007. The data also includes, but does not count separately, all REMS students who finished the program.

I would also surmise that based upon the GPAs reported in the 2007 results (some are below 3.0) that Rochester does not "weed out" weaker med school applicants to keep its acceptance rates artifically high. (A number of schools "manage" their acceptance rate numbers by refusing to write recommendations for students the dept. considers poor candidates. )
