Where should I apply?

So I'm a junior in high school, and the year is coming to a close. I now have to think about my college applications but am not too sure on where to start. I'm a relatively decent student (3.1 GPA unweighted) and have pretty test scores (2080 on SAT). I would like to major in engineering (aerospace or nuclear maybe), but at the same time want to have the full college experience with parties and everything. What colleges do you think may be a good fit?

Estimated family contribution ? Which part of the US ? Why is the GPA low ? What state do you live in ?

University of Michigan
UC-Berkeley
University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign
Iowa State University

I’m not sure for the family contribution. I’m willing to travel to pretty much all regions of the US except the midwest. My GPA is the result of a lot of dumb mistakes as a freshman. I live in California.

Not getting into UCB or UMich with those grades. Make sure you look at the CSUs and UCs so you have some affordable options. Talk to your parents about what they can afford for college. Use the Net Price Calculators on each school’s web site to see how much the school will cost (for instance UMich is $50K+/year for an out of state student).

UMich drops your freshman year unless it helps you. At least that’s what the rep who came to our school said.

well, you better find out how much your family will pay before you get your hopes up about attending some unaffordable schools. These OOS publics that are being listed are expensive and if your parents won’t pay, then you can’t attend.

Your GPA is too low for many eng’g depts.

What is your UC GPA?
