hi! I'm currently a junior in high school and i am trying to figure out where i want to apply next year. i currently have a 4.1 gpa and i got a 29 on the only act i have taken so far (no studying). Money is a huge factor for me as I will have two siblings in college at the same time (both at rutgers) and I have 2 younger siblings also (one who will be going to college 2 years after i go). anyone have any suggestions on some good schools for me where i could possibly get a decent amount of money?

Rutgers student here; money was a major factor for me too. I don’t know if the same rules still apply, but Rutgers has a pretty sweet full ride (“Presidential” scholarship) for students with 4.0 GPAs and really good standardized test scores. You’ll have to hit a 35 on the ACT though, or a 2250 on the SATs, but that’s more doable than you probably think it is.

Four years ago I had pretty much the same stats as you did, though with a better standardized test score. With your grades and a good application (and presumably a better ACT once you take it a second time), I imagine you stand a good chance at getting into some first class institutions, but in terms of money, your best offer is likely to come from your state college, and if you manage to get that 35, it might be a very good offer indeed.

Also, I’m not sure if this still applies, but it seems to me you shouldn’t be overly optimistic about getting a good financial aid package from a private university anyway.
