I'm a slightly above average student from a very competitive high school in southern New Jersey. I have a 3.45 GPA, I scored a 1930 on the SATs (M:610 CR:650 W:670), I have pretty solid ec's and work experience. I want to major in economics then either go to law or business school (hopefullu an elite one) after undergrad. Can someone recommend some colleges in my range that I should apply to/consider.

Also I’ve taken 3 AP courses.

Are you a senior??

Yeah I’m a senior

Wow. Congrats on starting the application process so early :/

I’ve already applied to 11 schools but I was recently deferred by an ED school so I’m looking for more prospects. Please take your ignorance elsewhere.

It’s not his fault for assuming that; you did not mention that in your original post.

I mean, what if he suggested schools you already applied to?

My point is: explain your position completely. What are those 11 schools?

Accepted: Rutgers Drexel and Tulane
Deferred: Lehigh and Villanova
Awaiting: Penn State Bucknell Richmond Northeastern GWU and American

Can your family afford $50K/year for college?

Yes we can however, as I’m planning on going to graduate school as well, money will ultimately be a factor in my final decision.

Those are good schools to which you’ve been accepted. Rutgers is in-state, yes? Tulane can be generous, and Drexel might be good for 10-20K. What is it about these schools to which you’ve been accepted that you don’t like, so we can suggest some schools that have less of this negativity?

Yes Rutgers is in state. Tulane is too far from home, and I really only applied because I had a free application and also I had a free app at drexel. Rutgers seems like a solid option however I am worried about some negative images that it may have. I do not mean to say that it is not well respected and strong in many areas, however I’m worried that it may have a negative image in some aspects. One very important factor for me is that I want to go to a college with respected academics and reputation that after graduation I will be able to go on to a prestigious graduate school provided that I do we’ll in college.

so schools that are as close as Richmond; schools with no negative images you know of; schools with respected academics; schools that won’t cost you more than GWU; and schools that have an application date no sooner than 1/15. that sounds like the list of schools to which you’ve applied, minus tulane and rutgers.

that’s quite a large order to fill, OP. So this list ignores application dates; I leave that to you: Clark, SUNY Binghamton, UConn, Buffalo, Albany, Stony Brook, George Mason, Syracuse, Pitt, BC.

Me, I’m thinking Tulane is the best of these, and they have $$, but distance is a problem for you. I hope this helps. Good luck.

I’m not sure you need more schools, but you can consider SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Buffalo (good OOS rates), Fordham, BU, Franklin & Marshall. And as an aside, my D’s good friend absolutely loves Tulane.

Anyone know if I would have a shot at Rutgers SAS honors program?

good question to research over on the rutgers board and by emailing your AO at rutgers.
