I really would like to apply to a top 25 school and hopefully money will not be an issue.

I think you should strongly consider the University of Florida. I think you are right on the fringe of qualifying for the Honors Program.

http://www.honors.ufl.edu/

i was going to apply to UF because i can get a 100% scholarship there and i was probably going to apply to the UF Honors College too, but that was just incase i didn't get into my top choices......i really did not want to stay in Florida because I am from the North and prefer it more...what do you say about out of state colleges

I find these sort of posts very confusing and a little depressing. I don't even always know what shirt I want to wear on a given day, how can I pretend to know what would be the best educational opportunity for someone I'll never meet? Rather than dumping a bunch of fine numbers and "ECs" on us, why not tell us a little bit about what you expect from college, your major academic interest, and what you want from the rest of your life? Then, I would at least have some idea of who you are and what you want.

You never said what you wanted to study so its hard to make specific suggestions for you, but assuming youve taken and done decently on a few SATII's I would shoot for maybe 1 or 2 reaches in the Ivy League at maybe Cornell or Penn (though they would def. be true reaches RD) then a few slightly more realistic reaches at schools like Northwestern, Hopkins or Geogetown, a few matches along the lines of Emory or Michigan and then a safety or two in UF and maybe an out of state state school like Wisconsin.

well nyjeff, your post was exactly what I was looking for because....

well i want to major in one of these three things for i have not decided completely yet: Political Science
Pre Med
Pre Law

I am looking for a college that is in the North, Chicago, New York, Mass., Connecticut, basically anywhere in New England. I would go to a hotter area though if the right opportunity presented itself.

I am going to take 3 SAT II's in may and hoping to do 700+ on all 3

When I graduate I want to attend either medical or law school (i am passionate about both of these career choices, but have yet to decide) and I eventually want to run for public office and become a politician...
this is why Washington D.C. is so appealing to me

do you care about size of school? urban/rural/suburban? do you want there to be a strong active jewish community on capus?

i really do not mind a rural setting, but then again i do not mind a city setting either
personally, if i were to apply to an ivy league like dartmouth or cornell that as more rural, i would definitely forfeit the city life, but for the rest of the colleges i plan on applying to i want to apply to colleges near major cities like northwestern/chicago nyu/nyc georgetown and gwu/d.c. emory/atlanta u of chicago/chicago

the jewish community on campus probably will not play a major role on where i decide to apply/enroll to college

Your list sounds good to me, provided that you have safeties. The schools on your list sound like match/low reach for you. How about Brandeis and/or Tufts. Brandeis should be safe for you. Tufts is unpredictable for most people. U. Rochester would be quite safe and may offer aid.

You may want to look at some of the larger LACs such as Wesleyan, Colgate, Middlebury, Bucknell where you would seem to enjoy the experience and accomplish what you want.

i think emory, georgetown, gwu, u of chicago, nw are all like matches closer to low reaches, but what about dartmouth, cornell and the lower ivies?

Unless you come from a renowned public hs like Stuy, being as high as the top 7% will hurt your chances at any Ivy. You're in the running, but I wouldn't call it likely that you should count on it.

what percentage at least should you be for ivies?
what about the other schools i listed above...georgetown, northwestern, u of chicago, emory, nyu will being in top 7 percent hurt me?

Northwestern, Georgetown and Chicago are definitely low-reaches, and being in the top 7% is fine. NYU is more of a match, as is probably Emory.
