I am a high school junior in maryland.
3.92 GPA unweighted, 4.5 weighted
1900 SAT (680 math, 630 verbal)
Currently taking AP chem, will take SAT IIs later this year

I want to be Pre-Med.
Have the HHMI internship at NIH doing cancer research.

I know im pretty much in at UMCP if I choose to go there, but where else should I apply?

I'm thinking UVA, NYU, Georgetown as reach schools unless the HHMI internsip helps me out more than I realize.

if you can get your sat up to about 2100 and you take a rigorous(Ap classes) schedule senior year, i think you have a solid shot at most top schools. itd just be up to what schools you like.

University of Maryland is a great school. There are comparable out of state schools, but why pay the out of state tuition? If you really want to get out of Maryland...

UVA
University of Wisconsin - Madison
University of Washington
Penn State

Most colleges in the top 100 or so have good pre-med programs, so we need more information. Do you want a big or small college? Rural or urban? Close to Maryland or anywhere in the US? Do you have a major in mind? Do you plan to continue a particular ec or sport? How important is cost?

I dont particularly care about size.
I am somewhat leaning toward a Div-I school just because im a huge sports fan, so UMD, UVA, etc appeals.
Close to home is good, but its not a priority. If its far away, I would want to be near a big city (NYC, LA, Chi, etc)

Cost is important. Instate at UMD would be a lot cheaper than say Georgetown or UVA and is one of the main reasons i lean towards UMD, especially since I like my chances at getting some sort of scholarship from the school.

As for majors, I know I want to do something in the medical field (want to attend med school). I am interested in oncology but that could change.

UMD does sound like a good fit for me, but I want to know if there are other schools I would be better off going to if I get in. Based on prestige, recognition, education, etc
