Hi
I am an International applicant. I want to do a major in Astrophysics or Neuroscience or Applied Mathematics (Still not finished deciding which one)

So ... thats about it ... my dream is to get into MIT or Princeton .... CC People Help me out please!!!! I am very confused about which colleges I should apply to. I really like the LACs like Williams and Amherst ... So prepare a list with univs and LACs .....

Thanks a ton in advance!!!!!

So many views ... and no one cared to reply??? My post isnt that bad is it??? Help out a guy who's pretty tensed about 10000 miles away!!!

you have a very decent stats for your application.
you hv a chance for all of them.
where are you came from?
applying for full financial aid as an international student is not easy. i think that's the only thing that you should worry about.
when will you apply?
good luck.

Few schools give financial aid at all to internationals, and fewer of those would give "full financial aid" (particularly if that means tuition + room & board). Most of those are the top tier universities, where the odds of getting in are small to begin with.

Start looking at college websites and search for international financial aid.

Princeton is need blind financial aid including for International students.

we got Quantum Mechanics in Physics and Combinatorics in Maths

Wow... I've never even heard of combinatorics, even though I'm in Ap calc (I guess you probably finished AP Calc Bc in like 9th grade...)

Haha, Quantum mechanics in high school. It makes my head spin already ;)

Yes, Princeton is need-blind for internationals and meets full need. I consider Princeton to be "a top tier university, where the odds of getting in are small to begin with."

And there are few of them. From Princeton's own webpage:

[quote]
Are international students eligible for financial aid?
Yes. Princeton is one of only six schools nationwide that doesn't limit the financial aid available to international students. Admission is offered to students regardless of their ability to pay, and the full need of every admitted international student is met just as it is for U.S. students.

Unfortunately, the quote doesn't name the other 5.

Ok Ok OK!!!! Thanks for all the replies ... but no one is giving me a list .... thats what I had asked for right?? I have done my primary research and I know which college gives aid, all I want 2 know is which are the colleges which are good in every way ... beautiful campus, nice girls!!!, good profs, nice food, etc etc and they give a lot of money to internationals ... I can pay at most 5000$ a yr even thats a stretch ... please help me people!!!!!!!!!!!11

EVERYONE has many DIFFERENT definitions of good college.
everyone has his/her own priority and limit.
you can't just ask for a list!
if you have done your reseacrh,,you should start noticing which univs can give FULL-financial aid for international student.
Chedva was right..NOT MANY colleges give it (means really2 fews). and to be honest, you cant do anything with $5k/yr. Thats only can pay 1semester tuition of a comm college..
if you want, you can try ivies. most of them give big chunk of financial aid.
or you can try LAC or small private college..or univs in small cities.

btw, where are you came from? studying quantum mechanics in HS?! Singapore? lols

Williams is need blind for internationals too- I'm guessing you knew that?

I'd start by finding out which colleges are need blind to internationals, incorporate a lot of those, and then branch out from there.

And, really, we can't just give you a list. Go to :: College Planning Made Easy | Inside Source for College Admissions Requirements and do the college finder and fill out all the optiony things and they'll give you some choices. The Princeton Review is also good for this, but you'll have to ignore their "safety/match/reach" lists because they're out of their mind- those are always completely off.

Give some examples!!! I know the Ivies and the top LACs but give some names of small private college..or univs in small cities ..... And one VERY VERY important thing .... everyone's telling go 4 the Ivies ... Am I even capable???? I dunno ... everyone who goes to Ivy must be having better profiles than me ... what say???

I mean your stats are incredible. Anywhere you want to apply, go for it. Just make sure to have extra safeties since you are an international student. I do not think your grades will really hinder you, so its based on what you want out of college, people on the internet who have no idea who you are cannot determine that.

Yes, you are capable. Really. Just make sure you don't apply to all super selective schools- have some safeties, like berryblossoms said.

On the subject of choosing colleges:

And if you want examples, do research. It's not like anyone was born with a deep knowledge of colleges. I didn't know about ANY when I was just starting, and it's just a matter of deciding what is important to you (urban/rural, liberal/conservative, small/large) and looking on :: College Planning Made Easy | Inside Source for College Admissions Requirements with those priorities in mind. If you gave us some sort of idea of what you want in a college, then it would be easier to help, but still, the majority of this is going to be all on you. It's easier for CCers to help once you have a few in mind- they can give you extra information about those, etc.

You weren't spacific at all in what you wanted in a college other than you major. Do some basic research, narrow down you options and then come back and ask for opinions on those schools. if you don't give us specific criteria, then we cant give you specific college names.

Thanks everyone!!! I get a clearer view now!!! And I am pretty relaxed now that at least someone thinks that I am at least capable..... Safeties ... this is where the problem arises. I have put a finger on some safeties like UChicago, Colby, Wesleysan, Northwestern ... but they really don't seem to offer much money to internationals and thats why I am stuck ....
Moreover these people don't talk much about safeties ... all they seem to care is about MIT, I am not getting any insight into them .... so CC people help me out .... give me some good safeties ... they should have the factors of the following post -----

What I want in College ----

A nice campus
A major of either astrophysics, neuroscience or applied math with really good profs who care about the undergrads a lot
Some good research facilities (even on the very basic level would do) just for the feel
A vibrant campus life - people dance, sing, do drama ... at least enjoy life
Nice career building facilities .... I would have a family to feed after I graduate .... so that's very important
Nice girls!!!
Good deal of money is available to internationals
Good food ... thats a must!

I can't think of anything else now .... so hope that i have helped you with helping me!!!

Hard-pressed to find a scenario would be I in which UChicago, Wesleyan, and Northwestern were safeties.

People said my stats were Ivy-capable .... so these really should be safeties shouldn't they??

well, those schools (uchicago, etc.) aren't ivies, but that doesn't mean they're necessarily less selective than the ivies....
