Where should I apply

I'll be a senior and I'm going to apply to Syracuse, Temple, Maryland, Pitt, and maybe Penn State in the fall. I am probably going to major in journalism or history. I want to become involved in sports journalism.

Weighted GPA- After my sophmore year it was a 99.58. This year (junior year) my weighted GPA was a 101.2 so I think it will go up. My class rank as of after 10th grade is 19/350, but I'm hoping that will also go up.

SAT- Took them Saturday. I'm expecting a 1650-1750. I'm not very good at standardized tests. I'm a slow test taker.

ECs and Community Service- Baseball (will be all 4 years), Basketball (will be all 4 years), American Legion Baseball (2 years), Altar Server at Church (8 years), National Honors Society, Junior Marshal at 2008 Graduation.

What other schools would you suggest? Will it be fine that I have no experience in journalism? How much financial aid do you think I'll get from each school?

Thank you!

Ryno, Syracuse (Newhouse) is very tough to get into. I would also add Ohio University to your list. It has one of the top ranked journalism programs around. Good luck!

I think you could probably shoot a little higher if you want. Temple and Pitt should be safeties, and Syracuse/Maryland/Penn State should be matches.

Why not add a true reach school? USC or UNC Chapel Hill would be good reaches.

Add a reach even with modest SAT scores around 1600-1800? Also I basically have no money for college, so the place I can go to for almost nothing is where I'm going most likely.

where are you from?

Pennsylvania

Anyone else? I'm really more interested in what you think about me being able to go to Temple for almost nothing, and getting aid from the other schools. I've heard Syracuse is generous in their aid.
