Where should I be looking?

I view myself as an extremely well rounded person... Very intelligent, but very lazy. I'm not involved in a lot, but I'm very dedicated to what I am a part of.

Academics:
I am a sophomore now...
Will have full IB Diploma.
HL English, HL Math, HL Music, HL History, SL Bio, SL Spanish
Lots of APs... this year I took Music Theory and World History
3.92 UW GPA (aprox...)
4.67-4.72 weighted
Rank will be in top 10 of 500.
SAT: will definately be in the 2300 range.... Probably an 800 math, 800 writing... and 700 something in CR. Maybe 2400 if I put some (a lot) of effort in to it.
I know it doesn't matter, but I've gotten perfect scores on the state tests over the past several years.

Extra Stuff:
Marching Band 9-12
Pit Section Leader 10-12
Jazz band (bass guitar and vibraphone) 11 and 12
Church Band (7 hours a week) 9-12
Soccer (JV 10th 11th, varsity 12th)
Lacrosse (JV 10th, Varisty 11th and 12th)
NHS officer probably...

I want to major in philosophy, then try to decide where to go from there.

Currently I'm in love with mostly the big names... I want to go to a college that I can relax, but also have amazing classes, professors, and the like. I want to learn with the best students the world has to offer. I like urban, rural, and suburban campuses, but prefer rural/suburban with access to a large metropolitan area. I probably won't be much into drinking during college, but I don't want a campus full of dullards either. I like preppy campuses, and tend not to like "hippy" schools. Politically I'm a stoic centrist or something of the sort. It's not a prerequisite by any means, but I love gothic architecture...

Let me tell you the schools that I'm interested in, and maybe you can tell me which you think suit me and perhaps suggest some other schools.

Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Dartmouth, Upenn, Colgate, Wesleyan, Duke, University of Miami, University of Florida (free ride), and maybe John Hopkins. I know I'm being very close-minded and have left off many great schools, but these are the ones that I've researched and have liked.

I would also like it if the college had a strong science department... I'm more of an english/social science kind of a person, but I have an affinity for relativity, astrophysics, and nuclear physics. I'd like to someplace that had strong programs in these areas also, but philosophy is at the forefront of my list.

Thanks for your time and input :)

-Ted

Forgot a few minor things...

Chief Award in lacrosse sophomore year (basically most hustle, best spirit, leadership and what not)

Also I'm starting a jazz quintet at school and I will be leading it up. Miles Davis type stuff, but I'll also be composing some originals. Don't know where and how often we'll perform but it should be cool. I'll be on double bass (I'm usually on electric bass so this will be a new venture for me...)

lazy but intelligent, mmmm, BROWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wesleyan has a lot to recommend it academically; the natural sciences are well-funded and well-taught. But, I hope you like German philosophers (Heidegger, Hegel, Schopenhauer, etc) because they're the names that seem to get dropped the most in conversations (yes, Wesleyan is a stronghold of intellectual conversation.) There are more than a few preps and some hippies, but, neither really defines the whole campus; most people fall comfortably within the nerdy category. As a centrist, you will occasionally find yourself cast in the position of lone voice of reason; but, again, extremists are easy to avoid, as is politics as a whole, if that suits you. There are a couple of small gothic buildings (the newly renovated Patricelli Theater and Memorial Chapel are wonderful period pieces) but, the campus as a whole is best described as "small town eclectic." You may also want to take a look at Northwestern, it's more centrist, somewhat more preppy and has more Gothic architecture. EDIT: But, Wesleyan Lacrosse rocks, they made it to the NCAA Div3 finals this year!
