<p>hey guys, I need some advice.
I've got into UOP, Merced, and waitlisted by Santa Cruz.
Im majoring in Poly-sci so which of those schools would be best.
None of these schools were my first choice but they're what im stuck with now.</p>
<p>Both are really wonderful universities, although people who aspire to Ivies and the big name UCs might not even consider applying to them. If you go to Merced (which is close to skiing and the gateway to Yosemite) you can always work toward transfer to UCB or UCLA, or other UCs, as they are the easiest way to get a transfer. UOP is wonderful, intimate, lots of personal attention–typical of private universities. Friends of mine who went to UOP went on to top law schools and other graduate schools, so do not consider a university that is not your first choice one that will limit your possibilities down the road. Consider the financial aid each offers. Most important, go visit and talk to the students and faculty. Get the vibe. Good luck!</p>
<p>UOP has a strong poly-sci program, but I don’t know about Merced. I would choose UOP if I were in your shoes :)</p>
<p>Definitely UOP! Pacific is the best, really friendly atmosphere, central location- to the mountains to the bay area, and good class sizes. Professors there work there because they love to teach! Go to PACIFIC!</p>
