Where should i put things like Boys State, and other summer programs?

If you have attended any other Secondary Schools, summer schools, or programs since ninth grade, check this box:

Is that where I put it?
But then theres a box that says school name and location. Do i just put the name of the program in that box?

I did a program with CTY and was also confused about where to place it and would appreciate any help with that.

right now, mine is under the additional information under the writing tab

i uploaded my resume to it....

I think this "summer schools" spot is a good place to put things like Boys' State.

Is it? I put it under awards (boys state)

probably awards
(...being an alternate wouldn't go on, should it? thanks)

so... awards or summer schools/programs, that is the question

@cricketman1991: yes, put it on. Why not?

I had the same issue with a summer writing camp, but then I figured out that my options were 1) put it as an extracurricular, which would take up one of my 7 slots, 2) put it as an award, which would take up one of my 5 slots, or 3) put it under summer schools/programs, where it has its own slot.

I don't think it really matters where you put certain things, as long as it makes sense. I've had to do a little shuffling to get everything to fit, and it seems to have worked out so far.

there's only 5 spots for awards??!?!?!
crap.

I would say additional information.

The awards section is limited to "*academic *distinctions or honors". Appointment to Boys State recognizes leadership and the program is for leadership development. I do not think it should be cited as an academic award and have my doubts about listing it as a summer school (anyone more expert know for sure?) To my mind, it qualifies as "additional information".

If my interpretation is correct, the Common App simply does not have a space for awards pertaining to leadership, community service, athletics, arts, and extracurriculars. I think the expectation is that these go under "additional information" or on an arts or athletic supplement.

I was recently at a summer program at Boston College where I took classes, and I was wondering if I'd put it in the additional section or under the additional schools section?

additional schools probably

I did a summer program at Brown and when I tried to fill it in under the summer school part it would only let me look up secondary schools, not university programs.
