where should I transfer??

Here is my issue....

I am 19 years old and currently live in Houston, TX (have been since I was 12.) Anyway, life here is fine, but I'm a Jersey girl at heart. I grew up there and most of my family lives there.

I am about to graduate with an Associates Degree (general studies) this Spring semester at San Jac community college. So, here is my chance to make a change and go somewhere else. I currently want to major in elementary education whereever I transfer to.

Since this is my opportunity to finally try something new I am really scared I am going to make the wrong decision. I want to experience college life, therefore I think it would be best if I didn't attend a college that is mostly a commuter college.

I have currently applied (and have been accepted to) Rowan University in NJ and have applied to (still waiting for a decision) Richard Stockton College in NJ. From what I've read about it, Rowan doesn't seen so bad, but I still don't know. Does anyone have any opinions on these colleges or other good universities in or around NJ?

Cost is an issue as well (I would most likely need financial aid where ever I go) and time is running out for application deadlines! So, please respond asap! :)

my other option of course is to take the safe route and go to university of houston or sam houston university.....

thanks!

Coming from an NJ resident and fellow transfer student I think you will like Rowan if you are looking for a good "college" experience, and also Philly is only 20min. away. The people I know who go there are having an awesome time and actually want stay there on weekends unlike most other NJ State U's. Stockton has a beautiful campus which is pretty much in the middle of the woods in south Jersey. Stockton has a lot of commuters but there is a good number of students on campus which are very friendly. Are you only looking at schools near South NJ? There also is Drew University, which is a little north, and Ramapo College which is a small LAC in northern NJ.

Have you considered Rutgers-NB, or Camden? NB is a huge school but It may be what you are looking for, Camden is smaller but in a very urban neighborhood. These are just some of the schools I know pretty well from my friends experiences, but before you make up your mind on anything be 100% sure and take up all the info about the schools you can. Good Luck!
