My chances...

Hi, I am currently a 19 year old sophmore in NJ CC. My college gpa is a 3.5 and h.s was a 3.0. I am set to receive my A.A. degree in the spring and

considering a school to transfer to. How are my chances at the following?

Rutgers
Drexel
The College of NJ
Villanova
GWU

If there are better schools I could get into please let me know also. Thanks!

Dont go to Drexel. I went to Drexel before, and it is a big POS (socially and academically).

Rutgers and TCNJ you would get in, the rest I dont know about.

oh btw: I live 15 minutes from TCNJ, it is a better school then Drexel, but only a half descent area.

The surronding area is Ewing and Trenton, which is not so nice. The closest street to TCNJ is Olden Avenue, and there is a lot of violence there at night time. They actually have started to close restaurants down earlier as a result. In Trenton, there isnt really a lot of entertainment as you would fine in a bigger city like NYC, and it is really really urban. have to be careful in both of these areas.

Now you can get to Philly and NYC from the train station in Trenton, and it takes about an hour to get to Market Street or Penn Station. its 18 dollars a round trip, but you can get a student discount I believe. it takes about 25 minutes to get from TCNJ to the Train station.

Rutgers is a lot better then TCNJ.

I am heading to Italian class now, ill write about Drexel tonight.

Thanks surf for all the help so far, anyone else? I appreciate the help.

heres the problem with Drexel.

Academically, there are some good professors there. But most of the time's you get a lot of teaching assistants, even in Lab Classes. It is good for Co-op, but trimester system really sucks. The Drexel Admistration is also not up to par, try to call the Student Resource Center and see how long it takes to get a hold of someone, almost never ;).

Socially, meh. Off campus there is a lot to do because it is a city, but most of the kids that go there keep to themselves.

Rutgers is a lot nicer, I know tons of kids that go there, and they all Rave about it. It is a big campus, and you need to take a bus to get around, but thats alright with me. I just applied there as a safety for the spring.

bump, any other good matches for me? I dont mind going out of state, thanks.

might check out Pitt, that is where I am going!

hey johnny1. I am in the same boat. I am a soph that attends a CC in nj as well. Villanova is my #1 choice and dream school. I am also applying to Rutgers TCNJ Richmond william and mary and a couple others

I am really looking for opinions on the most prestigious university I would be able

to attend in the NJ NY PA area. My SAT'S are 600 550 620 and my final gpa

will be around a 3.7ish. Im really stressing, my hs grades were not great and

it seems as if all the schools I look at either dont fit what I want, or are

looked down upon. I just want a nicely ranked LAC or U where I can get a

good

college experience. Thanks for the help! =)

with a 3.7 (depending on what major you are applying for) i would apply to NYU, Penn State, Umich, Rutgers, Nova, GWU, UVA I think all these are certainly within reach.

What about Temple?
