I am most likely going to attend UCSC and i wanted to know where all the asians room? I want to room in college 9 or 10, but i dont want to be the only asian in a college full of white people! What are the people at college 9 and 10 like? Are they nerdy, preppy, druggies or what? Is Oakes a nice college or is it run down? Any info about ethnicity or college atmosphere please post. And don't forget to tell me about the Asians!!!!!

hahahah i feel the same way.. I heard Crown, 9, 10.

Where are you coming from? I'm from Bay Area, CA

I'm from Kern County. My town is filled with white people and im one of the handful of asians. Im sick of white people although my girlfriends white and I love her. I just want to meet some Asians for once!! I heard Oakes is Asian populated! Where did u get ur info jennifer? I really like colleges 9 and 10 and if here are Asians there I will room there for sure!!!

There is a post below us that has statistical information of the racial population of each house. From my readings and observations, I have noticed College 9 and 10 are where most of the asians stay. The positives of College 9 and 10 are they are in the middle of everything, so everywhere is accessible. It also is the newest, so the dorms are much cleaner than the rest. Oakes is the most diverse however, not just asians. I hear it is furthest away though, so that makes College 9/10 most appealing to me.

Also, check out http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=127709&st=400&start=400
It has people that are/or soon to be attending UCSC and it has helpful information for incoming freshmen like myself.

Oh btw, I think I'm attending UCSC next year too, and I'm Korean so.. hopefully there will be more asians than I assume.

Crown and Oakes have the most Asiains.
I recommend Crown, it's really pretty and also close to everything :)

Umm Jjpark123 I don't know where the statistical information you mentioned is? I love College Nine and Im glad that it is the Asian college!!!

Here ya go!
2005 Fall Quarter Undergraduate College Affiliation by Ethnicity

It's a bid old, but it still provides information on which rooms have the most asians.

Jjpark thanks for the help but I clicked on the link and it said the page could not be found.

Sorry, try it again.

nevermind I found it! Thanks! Looks like im rooming at college Nine!!!!!!!

def c9 and 10.
i live in ten myself

woooohooo go asians

So, are the dorms considered first come first serve? Like if I submit my SIR on the very last day, will I most likely not get my first choice huh? That's sooooooooooo weak!

I can't choose between 9 and 10. :(

Im still debating between sc and sb, but if I attend sc, ill be in either college 9 or 10, so add another asian to the list! haha

Damn, if you got in SB, I would choose SB over SC.

word SB for sure.

yeah im still undecisive, but ill be visiting both campuses next week and then make my decision.

uhm i hope you know that most of the campus is white and although it's more comfortable to be among your own people, it's that kind of thinking that creates separation rather than integration of races. i'm currently residing at oooakes, and usually surrounded by asians, except in my classes. my classes have mostly white students and it can be kind of awkward, as i grew up surrounded by asians too. however, it's an interesting change and ya know.. we're all human, what does the color of our skin matter?

but to answer your question, the asians are at oakes, c9, and 10.

Im sure college 8 has a lot of asians as well? I saw stats it had like 19% compared to the 20% at 9/10 its very similar, can anyone else confirm this?
